Building a House

For my birthday I was lucky enough to be able to purchase my very first dollhouse kit. I've wanted one since I was 13 so I figured it was finally time. I would like to keep you guys updated on my progress if anyone is interested in watching this house come to life. This house is what prompted me to buy my first Azone Picco Neemo since they're 1/12 scale I figured she would be the perfect occupant. Eventually I plan on doing photostories with her as well but for now here's the start of my dollhouse building journey!

I've been meaning to post these for a while now so there's a bit of a backlog. Hope you don't mind!

Here's a link to my Pinterest where I'm gathering ideas.

Here's the kit in all it's glory!

I decided to go ahead and punch out all of the singles first since the project was a little intimidating... omg so many shingles. It took me three days to punch them all and they're still not sanded. I'm not looking forward to that. Finn and Link are pretending to help.

Image

Steps are sanded and painted, time to put them together!

Image

I think they came out pretty spifftastic.

I relocated to the front glass table since I figured this project was going to take a while. No need to keep my kitchen table filled with dollhouse parts. Walls are all punched out.

Mei checking out her new digs. She really is the perfect size for this house. <3

What respectable New Orleans home doesn't have a haint blue porch ceiling?

SIDING! OMG that took FOREVER!

Image

It also took an entire tube of glue. @_@

Time for some paint!!

And that's all for now. I'll update a new picture once I get the siding painted. :)

I love love love dollhouses!

I no longer have any, and have no room for them. Thank you so much for all the pictures, I really do love watching them be built. And your girl is so cute!

It's blue!

Image

Who knew such a small porch would be such a pain to put together? OMG it was the hardest part yet... so many pieces. @_@

Image

All of the rest of the trim and balconies have gone up. It's really starting to come together!

Image

Skipped a few steps in photos here but the roof and trim are on and the shutters are out and prepped waiting for paint!

Image

Shutters are on!!!

Image

I started getting tired of the outside so I handcrafted this nifty window seat for the inside out of scraps. I'm really pleased with how it's coming along. <3

I love the blue! What a lovely shade.

Window seats are the best! Your dolls will love it, and it looks great, so much better than not having one.

You are doing an excellent job, very professional looking. Thanks for all the photos!

I think you will have the most fun with the inside for sure.
