Old Mattel Horses

I was at an antique shop (looks more like a flea market inside a huge three storied Quonset hut) and ran across an articulated Mattel horse! Needless to say, I snatched it up for $12. I thought I spent too much but considering the prices I've seen on evil-bay for articulated horses...I thought $12 was a steal. Still has the harness, a few scratches and dings but no saddle. *shrugs* My little Obitsus really don't care. They've been pretty happy with it.

The only question is a saddle or not? I was even thinking a horse blanket either sewn from scraps and then tied around the belly of the horse or even some crafting leather, and then tied under the belly.

Any other ideas that would be helpful?

Oh, I also pre-ordered one of the Hot Toys guys for my Obitsu girls. They REALLY need a guy around and I liked his face a lot. I ordered the younger looking one. Do the Ken clothes fit them? Or the G.I. Joe clothes fit?

I actually have some Mattel horse size leather saddles. Let me know if you want one. They were the sort that were being sold years ago as Tex/Mex souveniers, very nice, sturdy and heavy.

I bet not. Been looking for them off and on for a while, then I found my old stash.

I had to convince Celestine to stop riding this morning so I could get photos of her new horse :

I had to hold onto the horse to get her to stay in this position. There's a stand for her but, well, I really didn't want to use it. I'll figure out a way to keep her in that position when I'm taking photos outside, probably using some wire maybe? That stand is just not very pretty looking.

She's a perfect fit for the Obitsu's too. Trust me. Celestine is NOT going to want to share at all. Good thing I have another horse - painted plaster of paris that's on hobby horse rockers. I can fake the photo to hide the rockers, either by angle or just plain ol' photoshopping.

Anyway, there's my horse.

*ouch*

Sorry, Celestine's horse. *sigh*

Wow, what a great horse. My sister used to have a barbie horse when we were kids that was pretty similar - it was called Dallas and was sort of palomino colouring?

Palomino Dallas and black Midnight were static pose horses.

All the ones that trotted thorugh our house I don't remember seeing that one.
