Hip joint dilemma

Postby Wardah » Mon Aug 22, 2011 2:43 pm

I have one of those mini PJ Sparkles dolls I got in a fit of nostalgia. Her hands and feet have gotten chewed a bit by a dog unfortunately and anyways the lack of knee and elbow joints annoyed me. Now I am wondering if there is any way I could replace the arms and legs for something better while keeping the original body since it lights up. I'd imagine 11cm Obitsu legs would be the right size but the original legs attach to the body with a a "v" joint while I think the Obitsu uses ball and socket joints for the hip joints. It doesn't bother me if her legs will always splay out when she sits but it looks weird when she sits in a chair and her legs are in the air. Since the shoulder joints are similar to the hip joints I'll use whatever method from the hips for the shoulders.

It is the first doll in the pic. The user submitted images are not the same doll.

Personally I would just stick her head on an Obitsu 11cm...

I would have done that if she was any regular doll but I don't want to lose the light up feature that makes her special. Anyways her stock outfit has a heart shaped hole for the light on her body. Unless you think there might be a way to put the light up mechanism into the 11cm Obitsu body.

I'd be interested in learning something like replacing arms and legs myself. Is there a way to pry open her body maybe?

I would think that putting the light inside an Obistu wouldn't work too well. The Obitsus are opaque...

The original doll is opaque too but it has a heart shaped hole for the light. Can you cut a hole into an Obitsu?
