Removing glued on bits from vinyl heads - help?

Postby Misheru » Sat Feb 12, 2011 12:28 am

Okay...it may not even be able to be done. If not, no biggie.

I get into projects where I will buy a doll for the body or the bits and get a head that I figure I am just going to toss and then wind up not being able to toss it or even sell it.

So I have a number of heads that have had 'unusual' mods to them. Some have jewels glued, some have fantasy appendages, some have unique face paint...etc.

I pretty much know how to get regular paint off. Can you remove paint that has been glossed and sealed?

Also, what about pieces that are glued on (jewels, bindis, gems, unicorn horns, etc...)? I took a bindi off once and it was superglued on, but I wound up having to sand down the glue residue with a dremel.

Any other suggestions? I know they are just floating heads right now, but I would like to do something with them if I get in a painting mood one day. I am not a unicorn, elf, and bindi type of person. Neko ears and beauty marks are about my limit.

Isopropyl alchohol and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It will clean off everything just fine. You may have to work at some glue and paint, however they usually do the trick.

Just regular rubbing alcohol? That is isopropyl. Cool.
