The next medium I want to play with is wax, I have that and a pot, but I don't know where to get the "pen" tool to heat it up so I can melt bits and work with it.

Any general wax tips would be appreciated as all I have is the wax that comes in big white sheets with some crayons melted in it for color. Plans are to try to carve wax heads and figures for molding for resin casting as my pouring wax in to plaster molds from clay never quite work out.

Be careful melting crayons and wax in general that you do it in a well ventilated room. Some of the fumes and such coming off the wax can be less than healthy.

By 'pen' do you mean this? Used for batik and those awesome Ukranian eggs.

Like the plug one, but I don't know if a Batik pen is it. The ones I've seen in doll and figure making books don't have anything to hold the wax in, they look more like pens.

It's for carving fine details and heating the wax up to stick two pieces together, I think. I'm a bit unsure what the tool does.
