MSC Question

Ok, this is probably a dumb question but, when using MSC to do face-ups and body blushing and stuff, I know you have to put on a coat beforehand. But how long after putting on the base coat do you actually do the work? As in, do you let it completely dry or are you supposed to do the face-up while it's still wet or tacky? Or? Does it matter depending on the materials you plan on using (pastels vs. acrylics vs. watercolor pencils)? I've never worked with anything like MSC so I dunno.

You always have to let it dry-sticky sealant is probably not a very pleasant thing to work with!

Just wait 5 minutes or so. I usually get my palette out and squeeze out my paint and prepare my brushes/ pastels while I wait so it doesn't feel like I'm waiting. I usually layer two coats with 5 minutes in between the coats. You don't need a heavy coat. Just light misting will do. And don't spray when it's humid/raining because the MSC will turn white.

Ah ok, so it'll dry quickly and be dry in those five minutes? Hooray, thank you both for the info! :D

Spray it OUTSIDE!!!! No one has mentioned that yet and you really do NOT want to be breathing it in. I spray outside (either on the porch or the patio), by the time I close the door and walk back upstairs to my loft where I usually do my work, it's dry. And no one answered your first question... YES you do want to do a sealer coat first! This will help keep the face up materials from staining head so most everything can be removed should you change your mind/sell the head. It doesn't have to be thicker or anything, same light mist. How you use the sealer doesn't change whether you are using pastels, watercolor/pencils, or acrylic.

I don't use acrylic, but I imagine you want to let it dry completely before spraying your next coat of MSC. It's a good idea to do things in layers, and spray in between, that way if you really like what you did on the eyes and then mess up the eyebrows, you don't ruin what you like while trying to remove what you don't.
