How do you string 1:4 scale SOOM hooves?

So, I'm stumped. Soom hooves don't have hooks. The holes through the hooves go all the way through.

The way it looks to me is that there's a little ledge in the elastic tunnel. I'm assuming the hooking device is supposed to be as wide as the ledge and thus will hold the tension.

My normal S-hooks are too long. A sturdy ring of some sort might work?

What do you guys suggest? What would be strong enough to hold the tension of the elastic for a 1:4 scale doll?

The hooves. Deer feet! Aren't they cute?

The hole. You can see that little ledge that I'm talking about I hope. Sorry if the image is a little grainy.

The work I've done so far if you're curious. All the blobby stuff will be sanded away and the new leg-shape will hopefully look right.

Random of her face-up. This was the 7th try. For some reason it wasn't working. I wanted originally to go for an all-purple monochromatic style but the pink wig makes the little tiny pink highlights in her eyeshadow really POP! Not that you can tell in the photograph but in real life it looks better. So she has a pink wig.

Anyway, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for any helpful tips you can offer in stringing these Soom legs onto this girl.

The elastic runs all the way through the hoof, with the s-hook being too large to allow the elastic to fall back up into the leg. A sturdy ring would also do the trick. The Soom Heliot hooves are the same way. ^.~

You can make really good small "S" hooks from large paperclips - the ones that are about 2 inches long. I can't wait to see her finished.

Yep, just need a ring or home-made S hook. The SOOM Yo hooves I got work that way too :)
