Avoiding "melting" plastic

I discovered this with my Power Team Elite guys. They spent the last year or so in their uniforms and flexible shoes, I recently discovered that all my older ones had melt puddles and gouges around their ankles. So far I have only noticed this on my Power Team Elite figures. This may become a problem with some of their softer props as well.
Basically it was caused by temperature change and the soft plastic being in contact with the hard plastic and the plasticizers leaching out. I will be looking in to sox but in the mean time they're all barefoot and the shoes are being kept away from everything else.
In my Re Ment I've noticed anything red tends to get sticky fast as do some of their soft things so they are kept wrapped in tissue when not in use.
