If I want to do a Barbie's hair in a stiff style, like stiff curls, are there brands of hair gel or something else that are better to use than others?
I figure instead of rerooting a few girls with dried out hair I can give them some permanent dos.

I know that some people use regular old hair gel but with the alcohol base that might not be a good idea. There is this one Ooak artist that uses glue to do those 1920's pin curls on his dolls, and wild hair with huge loops. I think he uses just good old Elmer's glue school glue to set it.

I don't use white glue for this because when it dries it may show. When I want to do this I use a clear tacky craft glue. It works very well and basically looks like hair gel when it's dry.

That's good to know, I wanted to permanently style a wig. It hadn't occurred to me to try a normal craft glue. :-p

Craft Glues can be a little dull sometimes when dry. Has anyone tried a clear waterbased gloss polyurethane? I wonder if that would work and leave the hair glossy too? Haven't tried either to be honset. Just a thought.
