Resin Elfdoll Hands on a 60cm Obitsu Old Style Boy

In the interest of science, and for Cirquemom and Nikki, Alerich has volunteered his right arm for this project. NO actual modification of the Obitsu was needed!

This is the picture of what you will need:
Image
1/2" diameter .035mm Aluminum tubing cut to 3cm and notched twice at one end
Elfdoll hand
Obitsu arm (partially dissassembled)
Elastic (really really short loop)(this loop is actually a little longer than it ought to be!)

Really short elastic and Elfdoll hand:

Aluminum tube with notches:

Tie a ribbon to the elastic and thread it through the tube:

Pull the elastic through and loop it over the notches:

Now thread the ribbon through the lower arm towards the wrist. Despite the picture, the notch in the tube does not extend farther than the width of the elastic. It's an illusion of the picture:
Image

Put the tube onto the elbow joint, notches away from the wrist. This will keep the elastic in place for you and also allow you to return your obitsu to his or her original setup later if you wish.
Image

Carefully re-seat the outer vinyl arm over the elbow joint, enclosing the aluminum tube. You will find that the length of the tube is designed to fit up against the inside of the vinyl at the wrist.

Pull the elastic out of the wrist, using the ribbon:

Hook the Elfdoll Hand onto the elastic:

Remove the ribbon, letting the elastic pull the hook into the arm and seat the hand properly on the wrist:

Put the arm back on your somewhat surprised doll.

Alerich did get his own hand back, and there will be a set of aluminum tubes being mailed to Nikki soon! I didn't have round elastic, so I used 1/8" flat elastic. I think that it actually worked just as well, if not better. I hope you find this useful!

Hmm...would this work with jointed hands? Interesting...
