I made a set of dishes with my summer swap. I just used air dry clay and painted with craft acrylic. It was really easy.

Thanks. I use henna to dye my hair, if I have some left over sometimes I'll do my feet and hand. ^__^

I tried baking my polymer and not only did they swell up into thick black pieces of coal like substances they emitted this toxic smell that caused my dog to run out the house and stay out for a while. I had to throw everything in soapy water and aerate the house! '-.- luckily mom is away for the weekend sigh and they were nice sized mugs too

Sounds like you baked too hot. What temperature did you set the oven to? Also, how long did you leave them in? I've only burnt polymer clay once and that was because I shoved something huge into a tiny craft oven.

If you're going to do a lot of clay work look in to getting a polymer clay/craft oven. If they aren't on sale at Jo-Ann sign up for their coupons to eventually get one. After mine has pre heated all I have to do is put the clay in, set the cook time, and let it do it's thing. I let the pieces cool in the oven so that happens gradually.
Or at least look in to a toaster oven.
