#56 Turn
Disclaimer: I don’t even know how to disclaim this thing. It’s dark, violent, and a bit creepy. If you’re not into dark, sad stories, or at least my potentially tame idea of what constitutes dark, then you can sit this one out. Meanwhile, I'm still learning the shopping of photos. I still have a lot of learning to do, kinks to iron, tips to apply, especially with lighting and shadows. I'm 80% happy with how this one turned out mostly because I didn't think it would work even this well. Ha! The brick wall background was a brighter daylight image so I tried to 'night' it up a bit. It is now Sir Brickwall, Stalwart Defender of Inside. This is no longer a disclaimer, is it.
“You gonna take me in?” Zo coughed.
“I don’t think I can do that to you, partner. We’ll see if Emil will patch you up. Maybe we can talk to Abe and work something out.”
“Ain’t talkin’ to him,” Zo said.
“You don’t have any other options.”
“We’re close to the bar. Just a little farther,” Gabe said.
Zo collapsed. Gabe said, “You can’t die on me, man. Not like this.”
“Had to happen sometime. Promise me you’ll dust that leech…”
“Looks like dinner and desert,” said a woman appearing from the shadows. “Which is which? I wonder?”
“Vampire!” Gabe leapt to his feet. “Zo, you gotta run! Get out of here!”
“Don’t friends make a lovely dinner pairing? It’s sweet, really, all the desperate begging and pleading, oh no… take me first, spare my friend. But I’m not really in the mood for that game.” One swipe of her arm sent Gabe reeling to the ground, unconscious.
“Go stake yourself,” Zo snarled.
“You’re a feisty morsel.”
“Let’s have a look-see,” she said. The woman gazed into Zo’s mind, reading as she pleased. “My, my, you’re full of hatred. This could be entertaining.”
Zo screamed as the vampire forced her blood into his mouth.
“Now son, listen well. When you wake up I want you to eat your little friend there and then come find me and tell me all about it.”
“Never… gonna… happen…” His last words were cut short by the snap of his neck.
“What a lovely evening,” she said with a cheerful little twirl. “I think I’ll go find this silly young thing who can’t even evade a simple shaman’s spell.” She closed her eyes. “Sleeping beauty needs a little kiss, doesn’t he.” She hummed a little tune as she continued along her way.
