A Rival Appears! (Warning: Long photostory is loooong!)

(I was planning on doing some of Wabi's history next, but apparently some dolls in this house can't be trusted to play nice while my hoofie boy gets some well deserved air time. I suppose I can't blame them since none of them have gotten much air time in a long time [one could argue that Wabi has gotten more than any of them since he's gotten his WIP shots], but geez boys can you not kill each other? Hmmm....that's asking too much isn't it?
Zenyatta, Towa, die in a fire! Oh, and I love you... X.x
P.S: If you are going to butt into a photostory Yotan, at LEAST give me some good pics instead of practicing your Chuckie face! Gah! *headdesk*)
Confused? Head over to The Neko's Lair to get all the backstory!

"You know no amount of daydreaming over dresses is going to change the fact that they aren't really done around here, right?" Zenyatta asked the blonde sitting in the chair across the room from him.
Said blonde raised his head slightly, eyes momentarily leaving the book in his lap, but Zenyatta was disappointed to see that his words had failed to really create any kind of reaction. He'd hoped for a little annoyance at least, maybe some anger--anything other than the passive acceptance that always seemed to be there. For some reason, that passive acceptance really pissed Zenyatta off.
When it became obvious that the other man wasn't going to say anything, Zenyatta pressed the point, "Seriously, what kind of band lets one of their members cross dress all the time? Were you guys bad enough that you had to use your looks to get by?"
That question got the reaction Zenyatta was looking for. A spark of anger shot across the blonde's eyes and he jerked slightly, almost as if he'd been hit. Before Zenyatta could push farther, though, a lanky form slipped into the room through the doorway behind Zenyatta, playfully slugging the dark haired man in the shoulder as he passed by.
"Saaa...Zenyatta don't be so mean. Towa just got here."
Zenyatta huffed, annoyed by the former assassin's interruption, "Kudou, this doesn't really concern you and he's been here a year at least. He just didn't bother to tell anyone who he really was until now."
Yohji waved a hand dismissively, "Details, details."
"Whatever...." Zenyatta turned, returned Yojhi's dismissive wave with one of his own, and then swept out of the room.
Silence filled the air after Zenyatta's departure until Towa closed his book and sighed softly, "It's not even a catalog. It's a notepad. It just happens to have branding from the store on it."
Yohji flopped down on the floor near Towa's chair, "Not that it really matters. He was just looking to get a rise out of you."
"He's hated me from the moment I arrived. Even before I let everyone know who I was."
"'Hated' is a really strong word, so I wouldn't say that he hates you," Yohji shrugged. "Everyone says he can sense things. He's probably never sensed the kind of power you have before. It's sure to have him on edge."
Towa shook his head slightly causing locks of his wavy golden hair to shift across his face, "Perhaps, so there are no others here with psychic abilities? Your empathy is quiet?"
"You and I both know your psychic abilities are so far above the scale of normal psychic abilities that they are not even comparable. But, yes, my empathy is quiet. I get quirks every so often," He paused a moment, eyes becoming distant, "but nothing like back then."
Towa nodded his head, the look of relief in his eyes obvious, "You were never the same after that."
"Bah," Yohji pulled himself to his knees, settling closer to his friend so he could look into his eyes. "That wasn't your fault. Don't go all emo on me."
A small smile crossed Towa's face for just a moment before fading, "I know, Rei. I know. Different time, different life."
"It may not have lasted, but everyone was happy as we could hope to be while it did. That's all that matters," Yohji gently smiled at Towa. "He wouldn't have wanted you to linger on him--not with a new life stretching out in front of you."
"Do you ever miss...?"
Yohji's eyes softened, "Of course, and there's nothing wrong with missing them! Do I wish they were here sometimes?" His eyes dropped, cheeks darkening in slight embarrassment, "Yeah, but you and I both know how tired they were when things finally ended. Worn thin down through their very souls. There are some things even love can't fix. If whatever's in charge up there thinks they needed to rest longer before returning to this world, then you won't find me arguing."
Towa looked over at the window across the room, "Yes, though sometimes I still feel that bone weariness from back then."
"Yeah," Yohji said softly, shifting back into Towa's lap, almost as if he thought that might somehow ward off the blonde's ill feelings. "I don't know if feelings like that can ever really go away. Perhaps only fade as lifetimes pass."
Towa nodded and then looked back at the man who lay half in his lap, suddenly becoming flustered, "Wait, your boyfriend's not going to have issues with me..."
"Liam? Nah. I've told him we have history. He's not as insecure as some of the people around here." Yohji stood up, reaching out to lightly bop Towa on the head. "'Anyway, try not to let Zenyatta get to you. He's a good guy. He just worries too much. We may be worrying too much as well. It could be he just sees you as a musical rival."
Towa smiled slightly, his hand absentmindedly tracing patterns on the cover of the book, "Perhaps."
Yohji's eyes caught the movement and it, along with Towa's mood, made something click together in his mind, "That's not just a notebook and you weren't just doodling."
Towa's smile saddened and his hands gripped the book unconsciously, "I am...out of sorts so I am creating a focus as best I can."
A familiar violet light crept across the book cover and as it did a realization hit Yohji making his eyes widen, "You have no mate, no ground at all? Not even an inkling? How could then send you back like that? My God," Yohji moved back to his friend's side burying his head in his hair, "You must be in agony!"
"I survive," Towa's voice wavered slightly, startled by Yohji's sudden action, but also relieved to have the contact.
"Saa...."Yohji sighed softly into his friend's hair, stroking it a moment before letting his hand fall to rest on Towa's shoulder. "What am I going to do with you?"
Towa didn't respond. Instead, his eyes became distant as he drank in the momentary calm Yohji's presence brought to the writhing mess that his talent was without its proper center. They had given him this much, whoever was in charge up there, the rest he would have to sort out himself.

Post Story Shot:
Yohji: Yes! I get to be an assassin again. No one touches Towa on my watch!
Towa: You know I'm not really the master type right?
(It took 29 shots to get an even halfway decent pic of this and I'm still not happy, but if they are I guess it's good enough. They were the ones who insisted on the shot anyway. *Wonders off muttering about pesky dollies and their insane demands.*)
