Dirili's outfit thread

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

If you search for "best tie" and "puking pastilles" (how could I resist typing that) they have a good tie pattern (human sized). Their tie is not very narrow, but the construction is pretty easy.

For my doll tie, I borrowed their construction for my tie pattern, but I left out the interfacing, and just lined the very ends of the tie. I kept the stitching along the edge of the tie (to help in turning the edges (but made it 1/4" from the edge instead of 1/2"). Their tie, and my tie, is cut on the bias.

Human ties are cut in three pieces, probably to save on fabric, but the narrow neck section on a doll tie is a lot easier to turn under and slipstitch with no seams.

My tie, when cut 18" long, is long enough for a Windsor knot on my Doll Leaves boy.

MORE TIES for dolls!!!

Thanks so much you all! :D

And I especially appreciate the tips E-Beth! I'll be making straight ties for at least 2 more of my boys. Hope with the new tips the subesquent ones will turn out better ^_^ I may remake Kou's later too. All my guys are reaaaaally big so the ties have to be pretty long.

Mao's outfit done now finally! I feel like I'm getting worse instead of better. Each outfit is taking longer. But then again I've been experimenting with different techniques so I guess that's been really piling on the hours. Like with this outfit, the jacket and pants are fully lined. Socrates outfit was partially lined. I think partially lined is better to get a nice seamless hem look but without bulking up the outfit too much.

I bought a few more books on sewing that I'm going to read before starting my next suit.

Oh yeah, these are not the shoes for this outfit, but they are temping while I wait for the right shoes to arrive.
