Jo's Fairy Tale dress

Bought this outfit off ebay because I liked it but didn't want to have to buy the dressed doll to get it. It's for a 22' Tonner American Model. It comes with a print satin corset top that I just didn't feel matched very well with the simple pink polyester dress.

I made it my mission to redo the dress and it was a horrible struggle, mostly because I chose the wrong material to start with. I found a nice quilting cotton that matched well, but was too stiff for the skirt. So it pulled it off and made another from a blouse weight cotton in pink plaid to make it a bit more casual. I turned the original skirt into a slip or under-skirt and did pickups on the plaid overskirt. Then I made a new corset top and added some floral trim. Results, better jmho:

It's not perfect and I need to take some of the fullness out of the under-dress still, but going with it like this for now.
Here's a closer look at the corset top.

I'm so ready to move onto sewing something else!
BTW, that's the new wig I got for Jo for her Ruby/Red outfit I have planned for her from Once Upon A Time. It's a Monique Gold called Ginger that I bought from Facets.

The original dress was a pastel cutie but the new dress is amazing! i love alla the details. With this wig Jo reminds me a bit Bejoncé, she's gorgeous *_*

She needs a hat with a big round brim for that outfit. It works in a vintage Hollywood Bo Peep or Mary Contrary sort of way.

I really like the redo you did on this dress. It is simply amazing and has more character do it. *smiles*
