Some forest wear.....

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

Some forest wear.....

Postby TheShadow » Tue Nov 15, 2011 11:40 pm

Well autumn is here and I have been busy with some forest wear. My little 5Star Doll Mia (whom I named Laerwen) needed a hooded cloak for warmth. I made this out of rayon batik that had been tie-dyed in various forest-like hues. It is fully lined and has a hood. Now she can "blend in" to her elven forest surroundings.... :D

Then there was this little number.....perfect for one of those romantic walks through the forest with a hunky guy....

I had been trying to find something that I could use for boning in BJD corsets that wouldn't add bulk or make things too stiff and I finally happened upon something really awesome that is so readily available and inexpensive! In the electric department of hardware stores! Plastic Zip Ties! If you buy the smallest ones they make (they're about 1/8" wide), then cut them to the length you need and file the ends with a fingernail file (so that they don't poke through the fabric), they're absolutely awesome! And 100 cost only $3.99! So the corset part of this outfit is boned with them and it helps the corset to keep perfect form and not scrunch or gape when it is laced up. I love discovering new ways to do things and new things to do them with! :D

Oh I love them!
I saw a tutorial somewhere for making a boned corset with bits of plastic ice cream tubs.

Such great outfits! <3
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Oooh. That dress. <3

It reminds me of old princess dresses, like the one The Little Mermaid wore. Love it <3

Lovely outfits - and I've also heard that you can do boning for doll clothes by cutting up plastic bottles like milk bottles or soda bottles! But yes, I've heard the zip tie method as well :)

Both outfits are to die for!! Absolutely stunning.. . I have a package of those tiny zip ties and now that you've opened my eyes to it, I can definitely see them as corset stays. And to think I've been wondering what to do with all those itty bitty pieces of plastic. Thanks!!!

Beautiful sewing! Laerwen's cloak is precious, and perfect elf-y camouflage XD
