A fantasy outfit for Iler: in progress

I'm working on a fantasy outfit for Iler, my brown tan Withdoll Priscilla (MSD). Her beautiful figure was just screaming for something corset-y. So, I created my very first (underbust) corset :D. I didn't do any proper finishing work on any hems, but I still like it. I created it using real leather scraps I bought at a flea market.

I'll be redoing the top and the skirt. The top is too puffy if you ask me, it needs to be remade using a thinner fabric which I bought yesterday. The skirt gets too puffy from the elastic I put in it, so I'm going to remake that one with a waist-tight waistband instead.

Overall I'm already quite proud to be honest. I'm not good at sewing at all but I still managed to play out the idea that I had for her. So I'm really happy :D

I'm also really happy I found that purple velvet-like stuff for only €2. I hate purple lol! But it really works on Iler :)

Nice! I don't believe you're "not good at sewing". I think you just needed motivating!
I know what you mean about purple. I feel that way about pink also, so the pink blouse I'm making for Regina is languishing unfinished until I find some pink thread. I have no pink thread!
If you pleat the waist instead of gathering it it might be less puffy. Or if you want to be daring, you could cut a series of triangles (with the tops clipped off) and sew them together to make a skirt that is narrow at the waist and full at the bottom.

I'm not good at it in the sense that I have no idea what I'm doing, LOL. I work without patterns, I just... well, work as I go. I sometimes fail and sometimes succeed :P. I also feel very clumsy with my big hands trying to get stuff done... Getting the fabric to do what I want is a challenge before I even start sewing. But I guess everyone can kind of relate to that ^^

If you are pleased with what you make, or if you can imagine an improvement to what you've made you are doing fine!
I have man-sized hands so I use a lot of pins to hold stuff for me. On the other hand, I never think hammers and so on are too small!

LOL, I'm 6'3" tall and have man sized hands too, so even putting in the pins in the right spots can be challenging sometimes. But I think you're right, I just need the right motivation; this girl inspires me so much!!

Unfortunately I haven't made any progress on the outfit yet, I'll go visit my mom this afternoon and I'll bring my sewing stuff, hope I'll get it finished today so I can take some pics of this lady outside where she belongs ^^

I don't think having large hands is really that much of a problem when sewing. My dad's hands are smaller than mine but I can thread a needle and sew much better than he can. It probably has more to do with practice than hand size.
Also, I think redoing the skirt with a waistband is an excellent idea. Encased elastic doesn't seem to work too well in doll size.

I use extra long quilting pins. They have big round bright yellow heads so I can find them when I inevitably drop them. When I handsew I search out long skinny needles, instead of short stubby needles.

It reminds me of the Esmeralda costume design from the Disney Hunchback of Notre Dame.. She just needs a jingly trim hip scarf :)

Oh gosh THATS it! Whahaha and to think I was searching my memory for what it reminded me of when I saw that movie not more then 4 days ago!
Now I wonder what Iler would look like with this dress and the black wig you have Evelien :P
