My first attempt at a kimono!

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

My first attempt at a kimono!

Postby Gabrielleh » Mon Nov 26, 2012 11:38 pm

It's been a long time coming, and I finally got up the courage to attempt a kimono! Despite a few stumbles I made (Like forgetting to leave room for a seam allowance- Whoops!), it actually wasn't as hard as I originally thought it would be. Anyways, here's Eve modeling her new Christmas themed kimono!

The obi I kind of guessed on, as I was buried beneath my sewing stuff and couldn't be bothered to go google one. It's fully removable. c:
I had the most trouble with the collar. Because I forgot to leave a seam allowance, it was much tighter than it was intended to be, and as such, I sort of exaggerated the green fabric to help cover her bits.
Overall, I'm pleased with this first attempt! Any advice for future endeavors would be more than welcomed, as I love the look and am hoping to make more soon!

My one critique would be that she is wrapped the wrong way... or she's wrapped as if she's dead. The left side should be on top. Other than that, it is very nice and Christmasy. ^__^

Ah! I wasn't actually sure if there were rules about the wrapping, thanks for letting me know! <3
