Barbie as the Turquoise Fairy

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

Barbie as the Turquoise Fairy

Postby kenaiqueen » Sun Dec 09, 2012 11:06 pm

I pulled my boss' name in our work Secret Santa, and I know she collects Barbies, so I dressed up a Fashionista in her favorite turquoise color and got some nifty wings off ebay that really made the outfit.
Image
The dress is made of a shiny lame' with cotton lining on top and a sparkley charmuse lining on the bottom plus an underskirt of the charmuse. (I used a quilt cotton to line the top to give it more body to hold up the wings better.) I put a line of beading at the top of the bodice and down the sides of the skirt where I cut away the lame to show the charmuse layer and the silver lace trim at the hem came from ebay. There is a sparkly tulle over skirt with a silver sequined ribbon belt and silver trim on the hems. I tried out my new hotfix tool and put Swarovski flatbacks on because my boss is like me...we think there is never too much sparkle! The crown is made of some rhinestone wire picks from the wedding supply department at a local craft store. The wings were a steal! They are made from sterling silver wire with glitter and filigree balls on wires with some irridescent glitter in places. I only hope they don't tarnish!

My DH was sick, so I had to miss the office party, but I heard she liked it.

Thanks everyone! Apparently it was a hit as I got a very nice thank you note from my boss. I make crystal jewlery and she was expecting a tiny box from me with something small & sparkly, so this was unexpected. My first time using my new hotfix tool and it worked so well, I will be blinging much more in the near future.
