I went to a Garden Party... new pictures added 7/21

I twisted my ankle last week and had an oddly good result. Being forced to sit down and keep my foot elevated inspired me to sew.
Astarte seems to live her life in a garden, most of her clothes are just the thing to wear while wandering around in a formal garden.
Her dresses seem to force themselves upon me. Earlier this week I was walking through a thrift store (reveling in my ability to walk around for an hour!) when a toddler outfit jumped into my hands and forced me to take it home and make this dress.
I used James' Dollfie Dream halter top pattern for the bodice (modified slightly to make it more modest).

This next one I made about a year ago. Once again a toddler dress demanded my attention. I firmly told it NO and walked away. It did no good  This also uses a modified version of James' Dollfie Dream halter top pattern.

I've got a third one in the works - all it needs is the snaps sewn on ( and the wig brushed out and the pictures taken and posted - you know how it goes.

"I twisted my ankle last week" Ouch! Yeah it's funny how doll stuff seems to pop out at you and demands you to take it home. LOL BTW nice work.

Thanks maywong and Iwa_Hoshi. I love making clothes for her, she's so girly.

I Finished the dress I was working on

It's a version of Susan Rethoret's Romantic Style dress that was published in the April 2010 Haute Doll magazine. I altered the bodice to fit the Dollfie Dream body, shortened the lower sleeves into cuffs and made rounded neckline into a v-neck.

Looking through my photos, I found pictures of this beaded silk, cocktail party dress I made from a camisole.

and just for fun here she is in her Cherry Blossom Dollheart Fer

I never really warmed to Fers until I saw one in person. Then I just had to get one, they are beautifully made and very lovely! This is the only dress I've bought for her, as I much prefer sewing to buying, but the detail on these dresses is amazing. I know I would go nuts trying to replicate one and spend just as much ( or more) in time and supplies.

Another new dress! I can't believe the roll I am on. Monday I let my girls and one of their friends go through my stash of clothes to be made into doll clothes. It was so freeing to let go of some excess and I rediscovered some cool clothes and fabric to make Astarte dresses.
I had trouble photographing this. It has a faint print of bunches of lilacs on the bodice and lilac ribbons at the waist and hem.

Ooh Astarte is such a lucky girl! The dresses are all gorgeous Susan! I made Freya a couple with that halter neck pattern but they didn't turn out anything like as lovely as your versions!
