Belle's first gown

This dress was more of an experiment than a real piece of work of which I could be proud to say I made. I used the Hallows Eve robe pattern for a base and made some changes, but not many and not very well, at least to my eyes. It photographs fine, but I'm very unsatisfied with it in general and I don't think she'll be wearing it for long.

It's too short in front even tho I purposely made it longer.

This is from a Designs By Jude pattern and this is the first one of her's that has disappointed me. I take blame for not measuring properly too tho. If I'd measured instead of trusting the pattern, it would have looked better to me. Oh well, live and learn. Next one will be better.

Next one won't have fur trim either. Seriously...fluff bits everywhere including up my nose. Bah!

This is the experimental version? *_* I think it looks great, but if you're planning on making an even better gown I can't wait to see what the final product will look like!

Looks good to me! (But I totally feel the "too short" thing ... I literally just ended up with a too short dress for one of my SDs.) I love the colour too, and the fur trim adds a "royal" touch :)

Heehee, yeah, faux fur makes a huge mess, but it looks great. Overall, the green gown looks beautiful to me. I don't think it looks too short in the front; one would want the hem a little above the ground so it doesn't get in the way of walking. Considering how nice this one looks, I can't wait to see the next better gown. :)

I think it looks lovely! I love the green and silver together, and she does look very royal. And love the trim too, I've always wanted to try a faux fur trim but I'm kind of wary, is it really difficult?

And I'm looking forward to your next version, I can't wait to see it if this is the experimental one. :D

Thanks everyone. It does look fine in the pics, but it's just my obsessive must-be-perfect mind that isn't a happy camper. I have some gorgeous winter white velvet to make her next gown, but I may opt for something else til I'm really ready to cut into the good stuff. I may look around for a better pattern. My sewing ability isn't too bad, but I can't make my own patterns.

If you really want the furry trim, I'd say go for it and just know it's messy. I hate to vacuum (hurts my ears!) so I got really whiney about having to clean it up. It was the look I wanted tho and I'm glad I did it this one time.
