Instead of making the stitch with the two loops on top of the stitch you only use the one farthest away from you. Adding a decrease to that could make a bowl shape. And it might start with the smallest part in the middle and get bigger.

Yes, one of the pictures says back loop only from this point.

Ah, well I saw another wig tut floating around on Flikr, that uses a crochet wig cap.

here's the other Flikr tut link for a yarn wig: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8542954@N07/2750934204/in/set-72157606651877346/ just click the arrows. And how she attaches the individial 'hairs' is a a latch hook looking thing, something of which I do not own.

But I'll copy past her pattern:

ch4, secure ends into a loop with a slip stich
ch2, dc in the loop 10 times (10), attach with slip stitch
ch2, 2 dc in each dc (20), attach with slip stitch
ch2, dc in each dc (20), attach with slip stich
repeat last until it's long enough.

It's supposed to fit a size 6-7 but will stretch to a 7-8. I imagine I can alter it to fit my doll's big head.

I can start the project, but after chain stitching into the beginning slipknot, it gets confusing for me. I haven't given up yet though. It's nice to have people that can help me out, lol

Go to your local JoAnn or a senior center and pick the brain of a more experienced hooker. Some people, like me, will gladly show you how to do things just to have some crafting company.

I'm getting the pattern, the 4 chains make a ring but instead of making the dc (double crochet) in to stitches you make them in the ring. The stretch would be in the yarn its self and choice of yarn and hook.

Ah, yeah. I noticed with different weights and thickness of yarn, and your tension it's either tight or loose whether or not you get stretch. I have trouble holding the yarn too, lol

Yeah. I think I'll just stick to a tried and true method, even though my first one turned out super thick, lol. but yeah, definitely need to improve my wig cap making. the stocking toe with elasic band is not looking so hot now, lol.
