Good point and shoot for dolls?

I need a new camera for general use and taking doll pictures, I'd like a point and shoot that can fit in a pocket. Some push button settings would be nice, I don't need DLSR and fancy stuff. Less than the price of a doll is a plus.

Same here! Would love some advice for good point and shoot cams.

I'm a bit horrid with technology myself and am using a Fujifilm finepix f50D for the past couple of years. From what I learn so far it boils down to lighting when it comes to point and shoot (yeah, phototog doll owners taught me stuff but DSLR is still over my head). If anything I might want to hunt down whichever it is is the last of said discontinued series

What ever camera you decide on, try and go "see it live" at a store before you buy. It can answer a lot of questions a spec sheet can't. I bought one of those cigarette pack sized point and shoots only to find it was so small it was hard to hold steady. Even with the image stabilization pictures were coming out jittery because there wasn't sufficient gripping area. The "hand hold" by the shutter was only big enough to accommodate two fingers. I ended up replacing it several months later with something with a bigger gripping area. It wasn't a full DSLR but being shaped like one it could be held steady with one hand.

I really like my Cannon Powershot ELPH 15 15. It's under $100. It's very easy to use. It handles my shaky hands very well.

Handling shaky hands sounds good. I'm definitely going to a store, I just want some good suggestions where to start.

For shaky hands, what about adding on a camera grip or a cheap retractable selfie rod for extra grip if not monopod support, might make it easier to shoot when your dolls are at a weird height that makes it tough to stand or squat.

I've used a Nikon Coolpix L26 for a few years now and very happy with it.

I had a Nikon Coolpix too! I used that poor thing to death, lol! And if you're looking for a store, Best Buy is convenient, but if you have a place called Fry's near you, you'll probably get a better deal there.

I settled on a Cannon Powershot, got a free card, and none of the cables we have in the house fit :/ (no one works in the camera department so they couldn't help me find the right one) But it has a rechargeable battery and a charger which is a plus.

Now to get the dolls to do something to take pictures of...

I also use a Cannon Powershot, though mine is about six years old or more. I also bought a cheap full-size tripod for $40. Before I got the tripod, I used to use multishot, in order to just snap a bunch of pics, then I would go through on my computer and delete the ones that weren't in focus. The tripod eliminates the need for that. It definitely isn't sturdy enough to hold up a full size DSLR but it holds the Powershot nicely, and the camera itself has macro and super macro modes.
