I got my official diagnosis this morning! I'm so happy! All these years, I've not known why everyone else thinks I'm so different, now I finally know! So aside from sound dampening ear muffs, what sort of equipment to you guys suggest? Any book recommendations? I gotta be careful which books I buy, because some of them seem hella wrong. lol

Congratulations. It's always good to be able to have a diagnosis. I suspect because everyone is different, you will have to do some research to find what is valid for you. Perhaps hit the library and see what books you can borrow first before buying anything. And I'd only look at books that were published recently. Maybe the last 2 or 3 years.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

The best sound dampening muffs I found so far are in the sporting section for protection from firearms. Pretty colors and a comfortable fit.

If we're talking autism spectrum definitely look for people with first hand experience, themselves or someone they live with, and not people looking to cure it nor attention seekers from the internet. Temple Grandin has autism and a way of explaining things.

Congratulations on your diagnosis (as strange as that sounds, it's SO important). My adult daughter has ASD and ADHD and the one thing we both suggest is that you do not get involved with groups like Autism Speaks (yep, calling them out by name). My daughter is disappointed because Tiktok is closing - that is where she interacted the most with others in the ASD community. Perhaps IG or You Tube will be the next venue.

Don't write off TikTok yet. They're going to throw a ton of money at Trump. We all know what that means.

I keep telling people that once a certain group of people running this country find out how many of their supporters are on TikTok, they'll rethink the ban.

...Somebody banned Tiktok?

And Temple Grandin is the reason I realized that my conversations with animals and bugs are part of how the spectrum manifests in me. Speaking of which, I accidentally told a Border Terrier yesterday that I didn't feel good, and he was going to stand out in the cold til I had had my fill of doggy pets and felt better! XD I don't even like dogs, but they don't care.
I am Tam. Tam I am. I like green eggs, but I don't like ham. :D

I tried linking one of my adopted click pets here, but the board wouldn't let me. :/
