Recently a question was raised about people who have been banned in the DoA Marketplace coming here and setting up selling. The Mods and I discussed it a bit and came to the decision that we would be performing a disservice to the membership of DS if we didn't take such things seriously. Many people refer to their DoA Feedback or their Ebay feedback to reassure others of their integrity since we are a small group with not a lot of feedback (we lost a lot when the old version went poof) so that makes these sources important.
Therefore it was decided that should a member here have a marketplace ban in DoA we will investigate as to the nature of the complaint that generated the ban, and if it is serious enough (and not just a whim or quirk of one of their odd rules) we will ban them similarly from our Swap Meet.
This wasn't an easy decision - it had serious pros and cons - but we feel it will be best over all for our membership.
Of course the next question I hear is "Are you going to investigate everyone here to see what their status is?" The answer is "Hell NO!" Dont' know about y'all, but the mods and I do have lives outside of the forum and none of us has time to see who is a member where and in what standing. However if we are notified of a member's status we'll look into it.
Does this mean we are encouraging "snitching". Again, no. Just common sense. If you hit DoA tomorrow and see Marketplace Ban under the name of Greyhaunt and think "Hey, isn't she a member at DS?" you can let me know...personally I'd be pretty horrified since I don't go by Greyhaunt over there and I have very good feedback under my actual username LOL. I, or another mod will look into things and either let it be, or take steps dependent on the appropriateness.
I sincerely hope that it will be a very rare occurrance - cause I like to think we are a great group here
