When is too many too many?

Postby DollyKim » Tue Mar 22, 2011 5:17 pm

When do/did you feel too many dolls is too many?

I think I'm getting there and want to call a moratorium on buying new plastic people, except for the Obitsu 11cm, for a good while. I have 3 blank heads, 3 customs without heads that aren't my head swapping bods, one waiting for me to decide if I want to sculpt a head for it and which head, another one coming in for a custom head that I have to make, and one coming in I consider a "work" doll that I don't want that much but feel I need to get any way.

Running out of names, no ideas what to do with most of them, and part of my house hunting plans include a place where the dolls can have their own room and some may end up being put in "storage" for lack of a place to put them.

I have managed to refrain from buying any dolliehs since my acquisition of Johnny (Liv doll Jake) last January. I have been officially two months without buying any new dolls at all. Trust me, this is a bit of a record for me, since even when I'm not going to Wally World or Target I'm usually haunting the Goodwill and other thrift stores looking for great secondhand buys.

I only have 4 girl dolls that I consider my "big girls", my more high-end ones. I have some character dolls that I've kept around like my Sailor Moons and my mom's old Barbies. Right now I've told myself no more girls until I start getting some boys too.
My with embyquinn. I do love going to Salvation Army looking for neat doll stuff. :D
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

I decided back in December no more dolls till I finish some of these WIPs. I did get a body for a rolling head but I think that falls under working on WIPs.

When I start to notice that whoever the next one is suppose to be, there's already a similar personality that's taken for said scale.

Which makes little sense what you have three dolls who are suppose to be different aspect of the same character (By now there's a forth one who's the 1/3 version of said character).

So no third teenage 1/6 girl for me. Although there's a chibi version of someone running around

I developed a new rule this year. No more dolls bigger than 1/6. I am down to the two MSDs I adore and who are characters in my writing. I have 1/6 dolls coming in to finish out the rest of my cast . Everyone fits on one table. If they don't have an already established character-they can't come home. I have exactly enough lvingroom furniture to seat everyone.

I have a rule for myself now as well, no more 1/6 girls until I get a 1/3! I've got a foot tall army just about ready to mutiny on me. >.>
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Well, I need a 1/6 male (or two), and I need a body for my Joshua head when Emory gets more in.
I have two pets coming. Then I really need to stop and concentrate on what I have.

i see tons of great deals on pretty dolls i want to just snag up, but i keep telling myself if i spend money on this one when will i have money again to spend on one i really wanted so should i buy the one that currently struck my eye. Typically i debate it for a few days and decide not to buy it and just wait til i can save up more or wait a sufficient amount of time and buy something i actually want, now i say this as i have 5 floating heads, 2 full dolls without hair, 3 more that need better wigs, and some that could use shoes or new clothes. so what do i do? i am buying a new head tonight for a hybrid i am excited about for modding the hell out of a body for it so i will need another body for this floating head. darn it...... /sigh oh well life goes on lol. also adding to my need for more wigs and clothes.

on a different note, anyone know a good brand shoe for bobobie isabella/march i bought my daughter a pair based on foot length for her isabella but they were a lil wide and child like. they fit but they're not perfect and too young.
