...Right so the scene that the BBC happened to edit out of Doctor Who for sensitivity to families reasons? Turns out it was actually pretty crucial to the plot and without it the final deathscene of the character is arguably more gruesome... Um... :s

And whilst presumably it would have been shown in more detail, it also wouldn't have been the only death of its type in the episode

Lovin' the Capaldoc though, he's really showing the overgrown child side of the Doctor more. As well as a rude side of him. He reminds me, sort of, of Six in a few ways. Can't really place my finger on why though.

Got to agree; the death was more gruesome without the bit that had to be edited out. It was a fun episode though, I got a good few laughs out of it.

As a life long fan he'll probably have traits of all 12, including John Hurt, who came before. Kind of like a treasure hunt for everyone who watches closely.

There was a bit in the restaurant scene in episode 1 where Clara's listing the characteristics of the person who would have placed the ad, and 12 takes it she's referring to herself, that really reminded me of Six when he regenerated
And google helps me with the quote, too ;) Six to Peri: "That's three I's in one breath — makes you sound a rather egotistical young lady."

...Yea I'm really not sure what the BBCs motivation for editing the episode was, but the cynic in me doubts that it had anything to do with sympathy...

I'm really glad everyone else on here seems to like series 8 as much as I do right now! Though if I'm totally honest I think most of that is down to Capaldi himself - I've got to admit I've rewatched Into The Dalek far far too many times to be healthy just for his performance... He's quietly mesmerizing, especially the scene where he first spots the Dalek and his facial expression turns from cynical amusement to downright horror with no noticeable muscle movement in between...

(Though gods I've also re-emersed myself into The Thick of It/In the Loop... Gods I'd forgotten how strangely likeable Tucker was as the only competent man in the british government, even though he was an f star star c*** Argh series 4 is just painful to watch though, in a good way, not a bad TV way! I've even managed to stumble across an epic dystopian fanfiction set post the opposition/arrest...)

From everything I've heard about Listen... It's going to be divisive, and either amazing or rage inducing... I just hope it's up to the standard that Moffat's earlier work reached - cos when that man is good he's very very good, much as it pains me slightly to admit that! (Just a shame about the borderline/casual sexism - Irene Adler/Mary Morstan I'm looking at you ¬.¬ )

Vetinari, I've just read something about the next episode... Oh, it's going to be divisive alright. I get the feeling it might be a little like Hush from Buffy though. Also; if what I've read is true... oh dear Rassilon, this is going to be mind blowing in any sense of the word.

Also: did anyone notice that the Doctor flipped Robin Hood off?

So... just done a bit of reading about Listen and yeah, it's going to be divisive. I am hoping it's been written by good-writer Moffat and not lazy-cliched-writer Moffat.

Having seen the pictures... has anyone done a Photoshop of Capaldoc in front of the board a la the old test card? I know the pose is completely different etc, but it just reminded me of it for some reason, in a way that him in front of the boards covered in diagrams didn't. A quick search suggests not (I'd give it a go, but I really don't have the skills).
This is what I'm waffling on about for people who've not seen it

Well, the basic idea is terrifying people and that usually gets Moffat with his decent writer hat on (why haven't you been wearing that consistently since Press Gang, man? Stop getting lazy!) (And yes, I'm one of those rare few who doesn't mind Moffat as showrunner. I don't think he's perfect, I just don't think he's ruining the show.) That being said, if details are true... well, it's going to get a Broken Base if it's good or not. Though if someone cries it's ruined the show's canon, please smack them over the head. Official line from the BBC is there is no definitive canon about Doctor Who.

Okay, I know this is technically making a double post, and I apologise for it but I've just seen the ep and ... erm ... well the only word that comes to mind is wow. Anyone else?
