I am never sure what to say abut things like this, as my social skills are near-nonexistent, but I will try. You were lucky to have someone in your life and in your family that you cared enough about for it to hurt as much as it does to lose them. And it may not seem like it now, but the memory of that will someday be greater than the hurt.

Condolences to all. My pop passed with the millennium, but I'm reminded of him whenever I see my son's hairline. You will all find ways to keep your dads in your hearts and somedays, will smile about things that you see/hear that remind you of him. God bless.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

He didn’t linger, he was himself to the end, and we were close. I knew I would probably have to say goodbye soon, but I will miss him.

When I think of dinosaurs, reading, model, airplanes, and piano lessons I will always think of him. I was so amazingly lucky to have him for a father. He taught the subject he loved for 42 years at the U of MN. Geology and Paleontology.

Dr. Robert E. Sloan, my daddy. I already miss him.

I am so sorry to read of the loss of your father. Daddies are special. Mine died in 1985 and I still miss him and think of things I want to tell him.
