And it was #$@! just to try and sync the thing with my OS. Aside from two titles I couldn't get to download I dealt with my purchases. You're gonna have to really hit me in the special interests or blorbos now to ever get me to buy another title.

It was enough to make me think about my Audible books too. With all I have going on it takes me awhile to get thru some of them, I only have 4, but I did buy a CD of the most important one (the only one I could) and I have back up of another.

So, is your book al text or will it have pictures? What is it about?

Remember that sci-fi drama with clones I started last fall? That's the one I'm thinking about publishing. I will probably draw the cover art myself, but it's all text. I've been really anxious about finishing it without a plan for what to do with it after. Now that I have a vague plan, hopefully I can get through the last few chapters.

Since I graduated I've never really had a plan for my writing, except for that short time around the turn of the century that went the way of my career back then. I've looked at my writing now as making sure the stories get out so they don't die inside of me.

I think you'll get thru it just fine. If you want to write it someone out there wants to read it.

I hope so. But that hasn't been my personal experience.

I tried linking one of my adopted click pets here, but the board wouldn't let me. :/

In a way you have to put it up in the right place, the right social media place with the right audience, someone will like it. Still the first steps are to write what you want to write so that it pleases you, and that you would want to read.

But if you are having difficulty finding an audience there might be structural problems with the story- Do the sentences make sense? Is it grammatically working? Can most people understand it? I know some of those things took me awhile to work on.

I took the bold step and published my Romantasy novel on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing last week and it went live today. It was fairly easy to do. Being a former graphic artist, I was not pleased with the fonts they had available on Kindle Create, but it was mostly just for my own satisfaction anyway. They do a good job of leading you step by step to upload it I ended up creating a cover in AI because I just don't have the money to pay for an artist and I'm sorry about that but needs must. The text was an MS word file.

I have a children's book I did with my sister who is a fine artist that we published a few years ago in paperback. It was a bit more difficult as it was a picture book and she was not pleased with how her artwork looked, but it made Alaska's Battle of the Books the year it came out. Mostly text was a lot easier to do.

I'm happy with the results so far and I can say go for it to anyone who is thinking about it.

I have another completed manuscript which is a SciFi Romance that I will be putting up there in the next few weeks. After that, I have a long fanfic that I think I could rewrite if life doesn't bog me down.

That's great Kenaiqueen - is it under the same name as here?

I want to write a submission for the 2026 JordanCon Anthology which is part of the Charity events. The theme for the anthology is Beyond the Veil (based on the city of Tanchico in the Wheel of Time series) and encompasses all that could mean. My problem is I have about a dozen ideas and my brain isn't landing on any of them! Well, I have one story in mind, but horror (even mild as this one is) is not my wheelhouse. BTW, if any one here wants to submit a story from a flash to a novella or even a related piece of art, you don't have to be a JordanCon attendee or Guest. As it is for Charity (mainly the Mayo Clinic where Robert Jordan was treated for amyloidosis until his death) all submissions are donated. Not all submissions are accepted. Information starts on this link: https://www.jordancon.org/jordancon-2026-anthology-submissions/

No, I used my RL name, but I'll private message you the info. Didn't want to make this a sales pitch, but I did have some experience with self-pubbing to share.

If anyone else is interested, please message me.

For bunches of ideas I have what I call my tornado of thoughts book. It's where I put ideas, inspiration, and what nots like a commonplace book/writer's notes/art journal gone wild. Anything goes in, no one else has to see it but I can share parts I'm comfortable with.

Very cool! I just have a folder in my writing folder for ideas.
