SO! I just tried to join DOA again and AGAIN it tells me my e-mail's been banned! which is impossible because i just created that e-mail LAST NIGHT to join DOA so F*** that site. This one is better any way >< sorry to waste your invite Greyhaunt thankes for trying to help me. I put a message in but i doubt any one actually reads those

My guess is that it's not so much your email address as maybe your ISP or something along those lines. It's probably not you alone experiencing the problem - but they are huge so they probably don't care if they don't get more members.

It's not right for them to be doing this tho and if it is than it's not nice >< First they discriminate against our dollies now us! their gunna have a rebellion on their hands lol.

It's a psychological thinggie. Their lives in general seem out of control to them so they control what they can, their website. And it is their web site, like Junky Spot is for dolls bought at his store only. This site is so loose because it's the umpteenth incarnation of a general doll chat board that started as an offshoot from Junky Spot because many of us there had off topic dolls.

it's still frustrating tho isn't it lol or at least it is for me XD i just moved to where i moved to and i met a fellow bjd collector who invites me to a dolly meet and the only site she's a member of is doa but now i can't contact her because their site is being silly :p What if i go to this meet up next month and no one's there but every one else knew because their members od DOA i'll be sitting in denny's for hours I just wonder if the creators actually try to make their site accessible to new members or if their just not letting any one else join and not bothering to tell any one.

No, I've sent invites to a few other people and had no problem so I don't know what the issue is. I'll see if I can find out anything as a member

While I am the last person in the world to say I love DoA, please keep in mind that many of the people here are also members there and active members as well. It remains the best place to see owner photos of existing dolls, and has an awesome workshop area and a marketplace that many of us have acquired great bargains from.

I have nothing against people who go no DOA, I have something against the way Aimee runs her forum.

And as far as professionalism goes, many smaller artists have trouble selling on the forum because it's so hard for new buyers to access it now.By the time board members get an invite and post enough posts to get market access, they've already been exposed to a great deal of snobbery towards hand-made clothes or Chinese-manufactured dolls. This hurts sellers of those wares, many of whom are now selling on Ebay just to get buyers.

Isn't Resinality run by a number of the DOA people?

My issue is with how DOA is run--- not with its users (unless those users are running the board.) Resinality's moderation isn't as heavy-handed as DOA's, and their market is easier to access. Some of their policies are restrictive (like the stance against American BJDs or vinyl dolls), but they have never banned a user for making an alternative forum.

On DOA, you cannot make fun of the site owner, make fun of your own doll (or anybody else's), or even use the barfing cat smilie "too often!" DOA has also banned and ousted community members who made alternative sites, including mods and site owners for Resinality and Den of Demons. It's also messed up that DOA allows members with Nazi sympathies to join (these members post pictures of dolls in Nazi gear on their blogs), but ban people for barfing cat smilies. DOA forces members to be polite, when when there is nothing to be polite about.

@kmadame The person you met is probably nice, and it isn't her fault that DOA's management is elitist, heavy-handed, and offensive. But by only joining one site and not supporting alternatives, she is limiting you and herself. You should not have to jump through hoops just to see a gallery of pictures. There's always Flickr (and other dolly sites.)

I agree in whole, and add on this: Nazi sympathies are aaaalright. But me mentioning in the background portion of the profile of the character my doll is based off of that he'd been abused in his childhood so he's not very trusting got me temp banned for two weeks. Mind you, I didn't go into lurid detail. I literally just said he'd been abused in his childhood. The character DOES have physical and mental scarring from it, but I didn't show (he was fully clothed and all scars covered) or mention this. The reasoning? Why, what if someone on the board had been abused as a child? My fictional character's abuse will cause traumaaaaaaa.

@Zainin that's stupid that they banned you for that!What your character isn't allowed to have the past you choose to write them just because someone you don't know could be offended f-that almost lots of dolls have a dark past or scars sounds like those ppl need to calm down someone's gone power crazy over there just like the american school system, in my brother's school you get suspended for holding hands and expelled for kissing
