My husband is very supportive about my doll hobby, even if he doesn't care for them much. I also try not to go too overboard. I don't buy on a whim, although I have gone through several dolls in the 3 years I've been collecting.

A family member passed recently leaving me their life insurance, which put us in the unfortunate/fortunate position of having money to put away and a bit to spend frivolously. I just pre-ordered 2 26cm Limwhos through Junkyspot and now I'm seriously considering doll on the DoA marketplace. . . . I was going to use that money on a camera, but she's so darn cute!!

Sometimes the DoA marketplace can be dangerous when you have spare cash. >.< (finishing paying off one I found there now myself)
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

I've only felt guilty about dolls twice--when I'm using someone else's money to pay for them. My parents paid for half of my first doll as a graduation present and my sister gave me a loan to buy my Elf Chiwoo. Guilt assuaged by learning to be a gracious gift receiver (expensive gifts have always made me freaked out, even from family) and by paying it off quickly, respectively.

I am a very cautious spender. I make sure all of my necessities are paid up before I spend any money on my hobbies. Actually, spending ridiculous amounts of cash on dolls doesn't bother me, because I know the enjoyment I get out of them is worth at least that much. My dolls are the result of hard work and saving (or repayment  ). If I bought them all on a whim, I think I'd feel guilty.

A good camera is always a good idea. If we didn't have my sister's good camera we wouldn't have got half the shots from our Disneyland adventures, including Star Tours.

I feel guilty any time I buy anything ever. I've been financially independent and stable for a few years now but I grew up pretty poor and the anxiety that goes with buying things hasn't left yet. For instance, about an hour ago I placed the order for my second doll who I know I really really want and have wanted for about seven months now. I've been freaking out about placing the order for the last couple of weeks and had gone over the numbers so many times I knew I could afford it but couldn't stop spazzing. After sitting at the computer with the order page up for like an hour my fiance finally got fed up with me and clicked the button for me. There's a great amount of relief that comes with knowing she'll be on her way here but I still feel guilty for buying something so expensive for myself.

Buying things...with my own money? Yes. My mom has to talk me into spending five bucks on a new pair of pants...but if she buys it, I'm fine, because I know I can't stop her. I would never ask her to buy things for me, though.

Well, as long as I worked extra to earn the money that I'm buying the doll with, I don't think I'll feel too guilty. It's probably going to be a while before I get another doll as my family probably doesn't care for my hobby or doesn't get/ approve it and thinks it's a phase so no doll purchases and no guilts. I hope.
The ever growing wishlist: Hujoo Dana, Obitsu 40, and an army of other Obitsus with anime style heads.
The more expensive end of my wishtlist: Limhwa Half Elf and Elfdoll Soah, my dream dolls.

I don't really feel guilty about any of my dolls. Sometimes I think that I'd have so much more money if I didn't collect my dolls, and I've got dolls that I sort of feel I should feel guilty about...Bast the MNF I bought while unemployed, Dove the Pixie when I'd told myself no big dolls for a while...Can't say I actually regret buying any of them though. XD I love my little resin army. I feel like I've earned them, and some of them were basically retail therapy, when I needed some major cheering up. I even have room for them all now since I rearranged my closet.

Only all the time. ;) I feel guilty just looking at some of the dolls I want. >.> Part of it is that I have no personal income (I'm a stay-home mom), so I don't feel comfortable spending it on myself. The other part is, all that money could be going someplace better, like getting something for kiddo or hubby, or going into savings. I mean, I love my dolls and the other things I do buy or receive as presents, but I feel so selfish buying it for myself when I could be putting the money towards someone or something else.

Look in to your other hobbies or interests and see if any of them can be used to make doll money. Or cut down on another. My dolls successfully stomped on trading cards, action figures, and other things I wouldn't be as happy accumulating.
