I'm sending prayers, big hugs and well-wishes your way! I've been in very near the same situation a couple times in the last decade, so you certainly have my sympathy.

D: I hope that your cat lives to be a hundred, you are given all the dollies you could ever want, and somehow inherit an island full of beautiful men to wait on your hand and foot. Along with your cat.

A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Just wanted to thank everyone, and give an update on things.

Basically we don't know what happened yesterday - he may have had a seizure, he may have just fallen over. I'm afraid I should have remained calm and waited to see how soon he'd move on his own, instead of rushing over scooping him up and hugging him until he got pissed at me. Ah well, what can I say, I'm not very sensible when it comes to my kids :)

It comes down to the fact that he's not eating well at all, so I need to either keep trying to convince him that renal food is good, or just say "screw it", let him eat what he wants, and face the fact that it will shorten his remaining time. At this point I just want him to be as fat and happy as I can make him, so while I'll try to get him to eat renal food too - I'm going to let him eat whatever the hell he wants.

Last night he had a piece of hot dog (turkey hot dog so healthier than others) with me as well as some of the bun.

Thanks again everyone - I'm just really hitting the limit of my coping skills this year, not feeling alone really helps :)

Well wishes to you!

Have tried maybe mixing his renal food with his other food? Just enough of his old food so he has the taste but still is benefiting from his renal food?

Grey, this may or may not help you, but I had a friend with a cat who had similar problems who switched over to 100% "wild food"--ie, she knew some hunters who supplied her with rabbits, squirrels and deer scraps, which she chopped, mixed, cooked, and served to her cat. Said cat actually got kidney function back, and chowed down with great gusto on the goodies. There are some vets that advocate going back to "wild food" for cats with kidney problems. Also, well, the stuff is free from sympathetic hunters.
All you damn kids get offa my lawn!
