Gosh darnit, I'd really rather be home right now. <sigh> I really need to put in a leave slip.

If you're really interested in patterns... try this: http://www.dalerae.com/Enlargepattern06.htm

That's the method I used for those really spiffy cargo pants that Niko wears. ^.~

Thinking of putting out a book of finished patterns the only thing is I don't have photos of demo outfits but I can put drawings in. Trying to decide if I want to do that or wait, how ever long it may take, to do the demos. It's mostly to make Doctor Who inspired outfits for 1/6 boys but I can't come out and say that exactly.

Is it just me or is the new Elfdoll smiling Barbara head kind of creepy, sinister looking? I find the one in the striped dress is particularly so. The waitress is OK. I've seen the type of pin-up pictures that inspired it and I think it's accurately captured the look....but.....I don't know..... :?

The eyelid pieces is a really cool idea. I'd like to see pics of a blank head.

I found a $70-ish model kit on clearance at Hobby Lobby for ~ $26. Not that I had the money to buy it but I really couldn't pass it up either.

I finally got my Obitsu girl, Meg, in to her summer outfit. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to do a photo shoot in the next couple of days. However, man, I had forgotten just how ridiculously busty those Obitsu SB-2 bodies really were! I barely got her squeezed in to the Azone tank top she's wearing.

Shockingly enough, there might actually be a photo story underway here at Chez Mlatch! I have my protagonists pretty much picked out but I'm still working on the antagonists. I also need to flesh out the back story a bit more. Meanwhile, this next week will be primarily devoted to getting ready for my Mom's 80th birthday party. I need to get my house ready for some out-of-town guests and then I'll be cooking for the party later in the week. After that, then maybe I can get back to dollieh stuff.

I just love it when Elfdoll changes/adds new things to their website because they tend to add minor mistakes like this:

At least they color coded it Resu - imagine the confusion if they were both still pink LOL

The other day I saw this great head that would make a wonderful Takarazuka Top Star if he had a girl body/had his bits modded but I cannot remember what the sculpt was, what the company was, where exactly I saw it...is very frustrating. Not that I could buy it at the moment anyway...but I could plan....

Eta: ...and then I just saw this fellow http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=4404 and I'm not sure it matters who I saw before anymore...wouldn't he make a pretty boyish girl. I wonder if I could find high heel feet that would fit him.

So, I had this allegedly great idea to resurrect my old Masked Germanic Archetype project from a while back. Basically, it's that standard Kerberos Saga-inspired soldier with the full head mask, German stahlhelm and other military gear. Perfect for when some doll in your collection becomes a despot and needs an army of faceless n'er-do-wells to conquer the back yard and intimidate the other dolls! For those who don't remember the project from the old 13 Doll board, this is an MGA:

Anyway, WW2 German militaria isn't an area of interest for me, so when I decided to re-do these guys, I had to do a bit of research on the subject. Once I knew what I needed, I went shopping and discovered the basic gear like belts, shoulder harnesses, haversacks, canteens and what-not is shockingly cheap and really well made. Probably because the various 1/6 scale companies have made so much of this stuff in the last decade or so, the supply of "mundane" uniforms and gear has far exceeded demand. This will be made up for by the fact that the exacting little cloth and faux leather ammo pouches with spare magazines will break the damned bank! Fortunately, I even managed to score the ammo pouches on sale from an eBay dealer for a bit more than $5 a pair; much better than the $12- $14 a pair I usually see them going for and they even had a full set of spare magazines!

And now, I have all these tiny belts, clips and fasteners of various types to assemble and adjust. Holy hell, WTF was I thinking? Everything is functional and is assembled pretty much like the real thing, as far as I can tell. The mess tins open, the canteen cups can be removed and the handles unfolded, not to mention that the canteens are hollow and have separate caps. Each "cell" in the ammo pouches closes with a small, pin-like button, then the strap is secured through a small loop. I have no books on the subject, so I've had to dig around the 'net to figure out how it all goes together. I think I pretty much have things figured out but I still get that "what does this do?" moment every once in a while. At least I'm only planning to make six guys initially. That's about all I think my patience level can tolerate in one go.
