ponies? grumble grumble grumble. I REFUSE to watch it. even tho the show sounds so cute. The storyline and characters are great but the animation has just got to go. they are just so ugly. >.< Please don't take offense but The first time I saw one of the new ponies I was like ummm is that supposed to be mentally retarded pony? So mean I know but gah I can't help it. I just don't see how anyone can think they are cute. Derpy hooves sounds amazing however I suppose the animation would be right for what I've heard about him *giggle*

Okay, I'm just going to say this once. Why are you saying the show is ugly and the ponies look mentally retarded? That is offensive and makes fans of the show such as me really upset. You could say they're not to your taste or you dislike the style, but you didn't. You say the animation has to go and such. I'm sorry but the way you're wording it, it sounds like more of an attack on the show rather than a criticism of what you perceive are the show's faults.

Also, Derpy Hooves is a girl. You can tell by the art style which ponies are girls or boys.

EDIT: Dollykim, I'm actually surprised by some of the voice actors they have for this show. Off the top of my head Twilight Sparkle is Timmy Turner and Bubbles, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are voiced by Madeline. Rarity is Naomi Misora, Spike is Near and Pinkie Pie's singing voice is Misa Amane from Deathnote. The voice of "Flutterguy" in "Bridle Gossip" is Blu Mankuma. You may recognize him from the Robocop TV series. Or Anubis in Mummies Alive!. Or Tigatron. Or everything. Ironically, he also voiced the title Dragon in Dragonshy. And Cheerilee is Sailor Mars.

I apologize if I offend you but if I have an opinion I state it. *shrug* I'm very visual and I usually either hate or love art/animation/whathaveyou. I hate Akira Toriyama's art. I hated Zelda windwaker's animation. ugly/retarded is simply how they look to me personally. I have never seen the show so i can't truly criticize it not that i believe I was in my last post, i just stated that it sounds cute if it weren't for the awful animation. Might have been a bit much to say that they looked retarded I'll admit but it was my honest to god first thought on seeing one of the ponies when I went to buy some. Something about this new style literally makes me sick to my stomach. If you like it go you. I am aware I am greatly outnumbered with people liking the new ponies. But I am entitled to my opinion the same as anyone else. The new show and ponies completely ruined my little ponies for me. But I've said all this before. So I'll skip it. I suppose I won't mention it again but you really shouldn't let one persons negative opinion of something bother you this much. And I don't care if Lauren Faust sees what I said. She as an artist and an adult. I'm sure she has dealt with and completely understands that people are either going to love your work or hate your work. I doubt one little person if gonna hurt her feelers! Besides I loved Powerpuff girls. Mojojojo was my nickname for like ever so it's not like I loathe everything in her style.

There's a difference to stating you hate it and then attacking it, and there's you stating it you hating it but saying why something isn't to your taste. I can understand if you say the animation style isn't zomg fantastic or that the style doesn't suit the show or it just looks weird or a plethora of other reasons. But saying things like "I just don't see how anyone can think they are cute" or saying it has "awful animation" really, really rubs me the wrong way especially if you know that there are fans of the show on this board.

I'm trying not to go "OH MY GOD THE SHOW IS THE GREATEST EVER AND IF YOUR OPINION IS DIFFERENT THEN GO AWAY" but rather, I enjoy it and fully recommend anyone to watch it, not because of the animation style but rather the writing, the voice acting, music, humour and depth it has. The show has to be pretty one dimensional if there's only one thing going for it.

I'm not really bothered by your actual opinion but how you stated the ponies look retarded or how the animation makes you sick to your stomach is a bit much for an opinion about a cartoon.

Heck, I'm put off by the fanatics of the TV show who think it's the end all to children's entertainment or that they're the greatest things ever!

I'll give you all that. I am attacking it. The new ponies really do upset that much. Why? I don't know probably because it seems in every single thing they have re-done lately they have thrown together shoddily and expect people to shell out money for based solely on the fact that you used to like something that had the same name. Buy these for your kids because its similar as when you were little! Strawberry shortcake, care bears, you name it. I wasn't saying what I said purely to be rude. I just have a seething hatred for them. I know people like this new style and repaint them and whatnot so I suppose I shouldn't say anything negative. I only ever said anything because they happened to be mentioned here. I even go out of my way to avoid threads ponies are in because i know they are going to be in it. I wasn't running around pony bashing. *smile* And I only mentioned Lauren as you brought her up. I got the feeling that you thought if she were here or if I knew she was into our type of hobbies that would somehow affect my opinion. It doesn't and regardless she's swell. Just don't like that particular show. Truthfully, I may have left out the part about me thinking they all looked a little derpy which is what I should have done overall but I'd have no problem telling her to her face that I wasn't a fan and I'd rather they remake the show in the older look.

Yeah, I was more so bothered by the attacks than someone, somewhere not liking the show. I just felt really uncomfortable by the choice of words rather than thinking the show needs any protecting. I feel it has enough strengths to stand up against criticisms. I do recommend you give the show a chance cuz even if you loathe it, at least afterwards you can say you gave it a chance and gain more credence for your opinion ha ha. It's definitely not like some of the regurgitated CRAP they've thrown up these days.

I only brought up Lauren cuz I found her pic in my pony folder and I figured to chuck it in cuz I get a giggle seeing famous people collect toys as well. She seems nice enough that many of the critiques she's received on her dA she's responded to maturely and I quite respect her for that.

As Lauren Faust pointed out in an article response to a feminist website criticising her, the biggest obstacle against potential viewers giving Friendship Is Magic a chance is the reputation for being Merchandise Driven and Tasting Like Diabetes that My Little Pony had gained in the previous 28 years of its history. In fact, this show first attracted /co/'s attention because of a post on Cartoon Brew accusing Faust of being a corporate sellout for taking this job even before the pilot aired.

So yeah, lol. It'd be cool if you gave the show a chance, but I'm not going to hold it against you if you don't.
