I can't seem to wrap my brain around the enormity of it. I keep thinking of all the little heartbreaks to come after today- the gifts under the Christmas tree that are already wrapped, and will never be opened.

The daily heartbreaks that will exist long after the world has forgotten.

It's the culture as much as it is the guns, there have been cars used as weapons, mass stabbings, and poisonings by people determined to do evil. It's lack of empathy and violence without consequences that need to be addressed. We have problems with our mental health situation here too.

I agree with this 100%. Guns aren't the problem, people are the problem. We need to figure out what part of our society has gone so wrong to let these things happen as often as they do. Maybe there is a way to get help for these people early on before they snap and feel that they have nothing left to lose.

I was going to post a photostory for Prima's Birthday (next Friday 21st), but I just can't face it today. It's too sad of a day.

OMG I KNEW THE MOTHER !
I had forgotten her name but she sat with me at the shower and she was a funny down to earth beautiful woman.
I was alone, and she was the only one who spent the whole day with me- even when it was just sharing a quiet time.
She was all for wearing a silly hat and being funny.
I'm in shock.

Don't these shootings make you wish that guns weren't so easily available in your country?

Hell no. It's quite the opposite. These kinds of things make me wish my concealed carry permit didn't have limitations. Makes me a sitting duck at schools, banks, and government buildings. (the places people most love to shoot up are always no-gun zones.)

Every time a tragedy like this happens the people cry out for gun control cause they want the government to make them safe. The government can't make us safe. People with the intent to do harm will always find a way. If they can't get a gun they'll make a bomb. If they can't make a bomb they'll just find something else. Benjamin Franklin said it best, "They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Didn't get to give a proper good bye to my roomie. But at least she found the card I made for her. Will have to plan a trip sometime to visit.

Still feeling pretty crappy, sinus pressure sort of went away but instead I have a sore throat, frog in my throat because the coughing isn't quite enough to get the junk out of my lungs yet, and my ear has been bugging me. >_> No fever though. I had a mild fever yesterday but we figured it was just trying to fight off the infection. Definitely going to find the school nurse peoples tomorrow.

Big winter storm coming through our area as well. I'm happy for the snow as we really need it but I'm going to be driving to school tonight and planning to drive home on Wednesday. The worst of the storm is supposed to come through on Monday so not looking forward to the potentially dangerous driving conditions. Especially not with all the idiot drivers on the roads. ><
