Finally got fed up with my Janome sewing machine's lack of speed, and got an old Singer 201K off eBay. Arrived today. Works like a dream, sews considerably faster than the Janome (about the same speed my overlocker does, I think) and even better goes through 6 layers of denim with some hems in there as well with ease.
