So I was taking out a head from my heads-for-sale stash to pack it up and ship it off, when another head rolled out and dropped to the floor--and SHATTERED! :O

It was the Crazy Owner head:

(under the two Liv heads)

Looking at the pieces, it looks like it was made of PLASTER of all things!
I think it's from one of their first dolls, so I dunno if their current figures are like this or not. :I

Still! Something to think about.

Yeah, really. :T
That reminds me, the head also came with a wig when I got her (as you can probably tell from the baldness-but-no-root-holes) and you'll never guess what it was made of.

Squishy, gummy, sticky stuff. Like the gummy window-clinger shapes you see during holidays, or those squishy balls/body parts/you-name-it you can get from coin-operated redemption-machines at grocery stores/malls/wherever.

Makes me glad I stayed away from that Crazy Owners stuff. Is that the head of the "sexy maid who isn't actually sexy" doll they did a year or so back?

The thing that bothers me about a lot these HK "boutique" 1/6 scale manufacturers is that, while the price keeps going up, the quality control goes in the toilet.

Yeah it is. I got her nude for $5. I'm not sure what her original retail price was, but whatever it was would have been ridiculous considering the quality. (Or lack thereof. :B)
Her body is really stained and floppy, too. (But it shall work for my... purposes. *evil cackle*)

So funny! I didn't know where that term came from, although I've met my share of brass hats; usually we (my group of local friends) comment that they have brass poisoning. We tend to joke that all the kings work at Kinkos. My husband actually saw an SCA king upbraiding his retinue and commented, " If he wants to boss people around, he should go back to his managers job at Kinkos.". Unbeknownst to him, a queen was standing next to him and she confirmed that this specific king actually was a manager at Kinkos. We had a good laugh at that. I wonder if my meat friends know the origin of the word? I'll have to share.

The local group is meeting next Saturday and I asked that if anyone had any male MSD clothing to please bring it. I didn't say anything about buying or selling. Yes we all know it's done at the meetings, but we also do a lot of trading in my group. A mod deleted my post and lectured me about the RULEStm, telling me that I should acquaint myself with them if I have any questions. . . .

Odd, odd, odd.
I was just perusing the announcements forum on DoA this afternoon and this question was posed on 03-29-2009:
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?285422
posts #5 & #6
"I was just wondering if it is ok to tell people you will be selling things at a meet up in a meet up thread?
For example, say I was to post "I am bringing x items along to sell at this meet". Would that be against the rules too?
I was just a little uncertain about it since the sales would not be taking place on DoA but it could count as advertising a sale."

Junkets responded:
"This would still technically be advertising sales outside of the MP. However, if you wanted to post something along the lines of 'Hey, bring anything you have that you want to sell' there would be no problem with that."

So, were you the victim of a double standard? Maybe you could politely point them to this post and ask how you should have worded your request. That is if you want to play their game.

I'm just not usually the confrontational type. *shrug* A DOA member who used to be a neighbor of mine got her hand royally slapped for posting in the previous version of the group thread that she was having a face-up party. In reply she quoted a PM she had received just a few days before authorizing her to do just that from the very same mod who smacked her down. She hasn't been back in the thread (or the group unfortunately) since then. *boggle*

There are too many mods, too many rules, and too many varying opinions of how to interpret/inforce those rules. When "things" happen over there you have to just let it go, unless you are really driven to get on their shit list. It's just not worth the effort.
