I just joined another doll forum, one with more emphasis on the vintage and collectible side of the hobby than our group here. Went wandering through, found topics on everything from antiques to Barbie and Bratz, then realized that there was not a single mention of BJDs anywhere o_O It was odd, since BJDs aren't quite the odd never-heard-of niche they once were, at least not within the doll hobby itself. Every major doll magazine has had them featured regularly in some form, most doll people I've met have at least some idea of what they are (even if its just 'Those beautiful/creepy expensive things'). They don't seem to be excluded on purpose as there's no rules to what's off topic, they're just... non-existent.

I'm watching my local election results and a friend of mine is getting trounced in a judicial race. But I'm proud of the guy because he's doing nearly as well in terms of real votes (rather than percentage) as the woman who is running a high dollar, high exposure campaign in the district next to mine. My friend's opponent is a neighbor of mine, seems to be a good guy and has had a lot more money to invest in the campaign, so I consider it a "win-win" either way. It's rare that I can feel there really wasn't a bad candidate in the race and I'm really proud of my friend for making such a good showing in only his second judicial race.

BJDs don't exist in the world of vintage and collectible dolls. 90% of these collectors have never altered a doll other than, at most, changing the clothing or accessories. Most often all they do is rotate who is on display - in glass cases - before they go back in their box...if they are allowed out of the box at all.

The modern BJD collector's mindset is as foreign to them as that of a Mongolian shepherd. "Mint In Box" means nothing to us. We'll buy a fullset just for the outfit and extras and sell the doll off. We'll grind off a doll's chest and glue on some boy bits, open closed eyes, add elf ears, fangs, claws, exchange feet for hooves. Never mind the fact that BJDs haven't been around long enough to become 'vintage' yet.

I've been randomly looking up physics stuff like wormholes and a explanation for tardis (lolwut?) for my sci fi story/visual novel/whatever it turns out to be. Some I understand, others, my mind=blown. When the heck am I going to set up rules and explanation for th story universe...I have no idea...better go watch Elegant Universe again. And play Steins Gate or something.
The ever growing wishlist: Hujoo Dana, Obitsu 40, and an army of other Obitsus with anime style heads.
The more expensive end of my wishtlist: Limhwa Half Elf and Elfdoll Soah, my dream dolls.

Sci fi does all sorts of things one can't immediately explain. Do most of us care how the TARDIS works? Nope. Do we get the idea of Timey Wimey Balls? Yep. Just get enough together to make things plausible so you can get working on your project. Writers on Star Trek would literally put "technobabble" in their scripts then at the last moment it would be substituted for the actual thinggy by a Trek expert, not even the actors knew what half the things were called.

After the first draft is together you can go back and fix things. I wrote a 300 page story, did several drafts, and after a beta reader told me I needed to update small but important enough thing to be with the times I went back and fixed that. Had I worried too much about it I might have lost the momentum of the story.

Found all my Breyer horses! The one big unicorn is just about perfect for the Obitsu girls to ride on. Most of the rest are 1/12 scale, but there's two I don't even really remember having so o.O

BTW does anyone have tips for super-volumizing the hair on a Neo Go head? I already tried a quick boil to get the hair to stick up instead of lay flat, but not sure if glue or such applied to the roots is a good idea.
