I subscribe to the Obitsu thread and that's about all I ever look at.

I had to cancel my week off earlier this month because of work, then I had to wait three weeks for one that would be convenient for me to take off without abandoning a co worker to the office alone - and now I get called for frigging JURY DUTY in the middle of THAT week...

I mostly only post in the "debate" threads over there...... there's not really much else that interests me at DoA other than that and the marketplace.

I always reply to jury duty with a slew of reasons of why I am biased and psychologically unfit for jury duty. I'm not being humorous and I am not being sarcastic. Just honest. They always tell me that I do not have to attend.

One less reason to bother going to DoA.

I only went to the "over 30" and "over 50" threads with the sewing forum and sometimes the marketplace because I have NOTHING in common with anyone on any other thread. I don't do meetups, I am mostly unfamiliar with and indifferent to anime, harajuka culture, jpop and japanese popular bands, and I simply do not care about 99% of what concerns people on all those other "more important" threads. By pretending to be "more inclusive" they are actually being more EXCLUSIVE as they drive away anyone who doesn't share THEIR likes.

95% of the posts there are "Oh this doll looks awesome and I really want to buy one!" or "I've been waiting ## months for this doll and I can't wait till it's here!" I mostly consider it a place to go to to squee over things.

And that's about all that is allowed in most areas which makes searching for specific information hell.

The place comes off as being very pretentious and rigid.

I thought the marketplace would be good, but the vast majority of the doll listings, people are trying to sell their used (most of the time unpainted) dolls for what they paid, or waaay more than what they paid, even for dolls that are still available new from the manufacturer! wth?

I was so excited waiting to get access to their marketplace that it was a huge let down once I actually got there.

My dad's boss says he always wears his anarchist patch when he shows up for jury duty. Works every time.

My stove just blew up. Sparks were shooting out of the burners and out from the broiler tray area. I grabbed the baby (who was in the next room) and ran. My husband (who was in the kitchen) managed to turn the oven off as the place filled with smoke. This place is damn lucky I had not put my daughter in her chair (in the kitchen) for lunch yet.

Thank goodness the baby's alright! That happened to my aunt's stove 6am Thanksgiving morning when the whole clan was coming to her house. It was several years ago, but I think what she ended up doing was using the neighbor's kitchen to cook since they were out of town and then had the kids carry everything through the snow back to her house for dinner. It was interesting.

I just started a thread "Ever Feel Completely Excluded?" I expect they will lock it down and delete it in a heartbeat as soon as they find it, but at least I will have registered my dissatisfaction.

Seriously. It was TWO THREADS. Seldom went off-topic and then quickly got dragged back. A LOT of us old farts with dolls don't know how to search for information and it was wonderful to have someone go off and come back with links without being judgemental, or being ignored altogether.

Well the plain fact is I think the DoA mods all wish we over-30s would just drop dead anyway.
