@Happyknot. Your friends might not have withdrawn so much as thought you didn't have time for them anymore. Give them the benefit of the doubt, email them and say "Mom is gone and I'm so alone. I really need you now." If they were good friends they will come running to you.

Sometimes YOU have to be the one to make the first move.

I agree with VV, it could just be that your friends wanted to let you take care of your responsibilities, without making you feel like you HAD to make time for them.

In the meanwhile, we're here for you. -net hugs-

Happyknot, my sincerest condolences. I'm so very sorry for your loss. HUgs for you. I know how it can be when friends lose touch. If you need anything, though I know it's not the same -- you have a group of dollieh friends that are here for you.

Happyknot, my condolences as well. *Hugs*

An update: My roomie went in for Surgery Tuesday night and it seems they got it fixed up. She wasn't in any pain but was really upset and embarrassed I think from her jaw being stuck open after yawning. I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet but at least she is able to close her mouth now. It has got to be really hard to have something like that happen in a foreign country where you don't really know the language. She is from China and this is her first year in the US. Luckily there was someone to go with her who could help translate better than me or my friend Janelle who took her to emergency care earlier on Tuesday.

Thank you guys. *hugs back* I posted an invitation to watch a movie and have beers and a few of my friends replied. So I may get to hang out after all.

On an unrelated note why oh why do people ask if my mother's death was quick?! So far 3 strangers have asked and unfortunately I have to deal with them again because we're finishing up some legal matters. I don't want to say "it's non of your business" because that sounds so rude but telling them the truth is also painful.

Guys, no seriously, please get regularly checked for ovarian cancer. My mom didn't get her regular check ups. When she finally did get checked out due to pneumonia they had found stage 4 ovarian cancer already running rampant - meaning it had spread to her other organs including her brain. They couldn't do much at this stage but if they had caught it earlier they could have. She was able to live for 3 years after that but it just got progressively worse and her suffering was immense.

She was only 53.

You are right .... I haven't had my Pap test in 3 years or so .... hangs head.

Oh, and when people ask questions that they shouldn't, you simply tell them you'd rather not discuss it. That is what we did.
