I love red meat but hubs want to try going to a more vegetarian diet, or lacto-ovo vegetarian to be precise. I cannot stay full and be ok with this vegetarian food, I end up scrambling for a bread product because my body is just like "You call this food? NO. BREAD NOW." *sob* Me trying to go without food, or eat something that doesn't completely fulfill my needs is actually a recipe for disaster. My experience with not eating enough has been headaches and being really irritable. Which I hate being because I just get so grouchy, all because I didn't eat enough! I'm finding it pretty hard to balance out my diet and needs when the only thing in the house is veggies that end up leading me towards binging on carbs. I am not cut out to be a vegetarian.

It's amazing how your body can react to a simple diet change. We're cutting gluten out of ours and there's a vast improvement to our health doing so. but as soon as we eat something with gluten our bodies crap out (literally). I just found some gluten-free pizza dough mix that I'm going to try.

I don't really care so much about being thin (super model thin), I'm just trying to take care of my body better... and also be able to pack a punch.

I was just ranting about this in my journal, but we're kinda-sorta health reforming. I removed all the sugar from the house the other day and am cracking down on Mr. Super-Duper Size about portion sizes and processing. Until about a year ago I was doing great, but with school and his bad habits I've been slipping too, so I'm putting the smack down on it and getting us back on track.

I've resigned myself to being fairly unhealthy until this degree is over... I take regular walks to the far end of town, but until I no longer subsist of a diet of all-nighters and caffeine (and yes these are all my own fault, and v.little to do with the work load) I don't think my fitness levels are going to be up to much - despite the giant hills in this area of the country!

There are only so many protein shakes I can stomach. I have a horrible gag reflex with food that doesn't taste really good. I'd rather eat a burger for my protein.

I started using My Fitness Pal app yesterday. Normally I'm terrible with food tracking, but hopefully I can do better with this app. If anyone else is using it and wants to add friends to their little exercise network you can message me :3

If we just had shrimp is the house I could make shrimp burgers >_<

I use http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/start-now.asp and their tracking app for the phone. It works for me. I have lost 70 pounds since January 2011. Still a long way to go, but will be halfway to goal in 10 pounds or so. My goal weight will not get me into "healthy" BMI range-my doctor says BMI was not made for me-I am the only woman he has met in 20+ years of practice who actually has a large frame.   But, the whole office did a happy dance for me when I got out of morbidly obese to obese after 20 years of morbidly obese. Baby step by baby step, I have developed new habits:
1. I never miss a day of exercise - unless completely bed ridden.
2. I drink more water always 8 cups, usually 10 working my way up to 12.
3. 5 to 7 Veggies/fruits per day
4. I track every bit of food that goes into my mouth-whether or not I am within my calorie range for the day.

When I get off track, I go back to basics: Drink the water, track the food, move the body.
It took me a while, but I finally realized and admitted that these changes are for life-if I want a long and happy one.
