Ahhhhh.... My almost 16yo cat is walking with a limp now and can't lift up her tail. I don't know what to do...
I'll check her litter box in the morning to make sure she can eliminate by herself. I'm afraid that she will go all over her tail because she can't lift it up.. :(

She was just at the vet about two weeks ago because I thought she had an UTI.

She doesn't seem to be in pain, she just isn't very coordinated. I don't know how she could have hurt herself, she was fine this morning and when I came home from school and let her out of the bathroom (we have been locking her up when we are gone because she had taken to peeing on the rug) she was dragging her leg and tail.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

Mom was a Vet tech for 18ys and she said not to worry about it too much, because there really isn't much that can be done (she was also moving her tail more earlier today when I told her this). But I'm worried because I'm not sure if she can pee by herself. It's too late now to call my mom, ahhhhhh...

Separate contractions and find wordier ways to say things. (say "such as" or "similar to" instead of "like", etc.)

That's what I did for papers when I was in school, because I had a tendency to be too concise.

:hugs: Oh, I'm so sorry! I don't want to frighten you and I'm not sure I should even write this now, but you asked if anyone had similar experiences and.....that sounds very like what happened to our beloved doggie---he'd had a stroke while we were out, and when we came home, he couldn't move/wag his tail and just sort of dragged it and his back legs! We were so worried and the vet said that it had left his tail paralyzed and from then on he moved his rear end legs slower and more clumsy. His back legs eventually started to work a bit again (not like he was, but all right) But he passed away soon after then---about a month or two later. We were devastated.

Hopefully, though, this isn't what happened to your kitty and she'll be okay for a GOOD long time----your mom is right----maybe it is just a sprain or pull and she'll right herself soon.

:hugs: We'll be hoping and praying for you!

Nooo, no dying! *hugs* It will be better tomorrow! You've probably done this already, but just in case, do you have a gel pack or something to cool it a bit? That helps with the bleeding, too ... grab that, a cat (if you've got one) / doll / plushie / significant other / anything cuddly and find a movie to watch, it will help :-) (and take your mind off the pain)

But hey, that sounds like you'd found a way to get it all done in one go :-) So at least once this is over, it's done for good, right?

I haven't experienced this with any cats... but if you can, PLEASE take her to vet to be properly checked out.

Come to think of it, we had that with our gerbils ages ago. It was a sign of old age though, not much to be done about it, but they were able to go potty and clean themselves.

Okay, Mom looked her over and said that what it looks like happened is that she tried to climb or jump and hurt her pelvis on her right side. Nothing seems to be broken because she is still moving around fairly well and does not act in pain when examined. Mom said to watch her carefully and make sure she can use the bathroom by herself (there was a small amount of pee in the box this morning, her bladder is also small right now too) if she is having difficultly eliminating than I should take her to the vet so they can do an x-ray.

Mom said crate rest so she can fully recover. Mom suspects she tore or injured a ligament (? I think that's what she said), and that it will heal with rest.

Casey (my cat) seems normal aside the tail dragging and limp, she is eating fine and drinking water. She is also still able to climb on the couch (although, now I am not letting her), so I hope she will be okay.

Thank you every one! I really don't want to loose another fur baby this year (not that I want to loose one ever) so I am hoping that everything will be just fine. Setsuna, I am sorry for the loss of your pet. It seemed to have happened a while ago, but I know how hard it is even years later. <3
