I also believe in reincarnation and believe I have spent many past lives as wolves. Eventually, I will have one arm with a full sleeve all wolf themed. The kanji will have a wolf pawprint behind it, in grayscale, and my upper arm will have a design I made involving a 7 of Diamonds and a tribal howling wolf, then going down my arm between the two will be a packc of running wolves. All of my ink will be my own designs. I have plans for others but that's what I really want.
<----Another wolf lover!? Ahh, you seem to have the same, almost spiritual connection I feel to the animals. I don't follow any one religion but I know enough to know that my traits (and people I've met who practice Shamanism have mentioned it to me) correspond with the wolf. I've had a love affair with wolves since I was a child. I still remember vividly being around four and sobbing because I told my mother that fairy tales were stupid and I hated the way they treated wolves in the stories! (Ah, the young mind. ) My entire room is filled with wolf pictures/wall scrolls/you name it. I always told my mother that the only two tattoos I would ever get were a wolf, or my Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon as a full back piece. My back is too scarred to get a full back piece now (no tattoo artist would touch my lower back, the burn scars are as thick as ropes), but I still hope to get some sort of wolf tattoo. I've always wanted a shadow outline of a wolf that fades to nothing slowly in a gradient effect. <3 So glad to see another wolf lover Okami!

Today's Schadenfreude my doesn't like to carry a purse sister and mother managed to lose the only car key they had with them and have been stuck all afternoon at the horse ranch. If I had gone they could have used my key but I don't like spending my whole day at the horse ranch I just spent yesterday at because it's the only way I can get a ride to places that end of town. Anyhow Cosmos with Carl Sagan was on.

MC - big cats fish too :) Mostly, iirc, jaguars (and so panthers) and tigers.

I suspect if I had a totem animal it would be a cat of some sort, not least because I appear to have had non-corporeal cats around me for a lot of my life - starting from the one who would walk out of a wall and curl up on my bed when I was a child. My mum's even seen one following me sometimes when I've stayed at my parents in their definitively cat-free house! I firmly believe there's a rational explanation for it, although I find it interesting that it's always cats and not any other animal (domestic or otherwise).

Oh, I know big cats fish!! I just meant that when I picture a pond, I picture a domestic cat. A wild cat inspires low hung, gnarled branches that bend low into the river, perfect for a sneaky jungle cat to swipe up a meal. <3

As for non-corporeal cats...some things you can't explain. ;) I'm a firm believer that there are things beyond human understanding. I think people who assume we know everything are arrogant fools. So, rational explanation? Yes. One that science doesn't accept? Perhaps. :D

victoriavictrix Pffft. You want to get a tattoo of that spirit animal? ;)

It's been interesting reading about everyone's totem animals! I have no idea what my totem animal could be, I adore wolves and owls but I doubt there's any real connection there since I've not had anything inexplicable happen. I love the concept that there are other planes that we can access if we only have the right mindset.

Hah! Yea I agree with the assessment on people who assume we know everything, though ironically despite the stereotypes the scientists I know &/or know of are the usually the 1st to admit there's' stuff going on that's beyond our/their collective understanding. (I blame the hollywood science for that stereotype... Well that and psychology... ugh I know I'm being unfair but that entire field until v.v.recently...)

There are quizzes online you can take to find out what your spirit animal is. :D They're based off of personality traits moreso than any pull you may feel towards an animal, but in my case (and many others) people find that they have an affinity for their spirit animal. :D

Oh, scientists alone aren't in that group. I find many academics insufferable when mentioning anything to do with spirituality/religion/unexplained phenomena...

My spirit animal is the Raven. Which possibly explains how I ended living in AK. I love to watch them.

I told myself I'd get a tat if I lived to be 50. I'm long past that and still have yet to find something I want to wear permanently. I tell myself it's my artistic nature that can't decide, but I might just be chicken.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.
