I am so sorry! I'm glad you and your family and your cats are ok. I am also glad you have at least some back-up for your computer and that they didn't take the dolls. Hugs and prayers! Hardware is replaceable, pets and family are not.

My DSI wasn't taken because it was in my doll box, so I am using it to get online. I am thankful that my dolls are okay and my writing is all backed up on my hard drive. Thank God it was today and not yesterday when my son was at home. Keep us in your prayers. Valerie

<hugs> richila

You know the drill. Insurance company and all that. What no one tells you is that this emotionally is a TERRIBLE violation. It's not the stuff, it's that your "safe place" was invaded and ravaged. You're going to find yourself crying and shaking, and be afraid to sleep. That's ok. You're going to be scared now that "they" are going to know that you have "stuff" and come back again. That's rational.

Remember this as you are (and you will) going through the process of figuring out what security to beef up. This was a fast operation. They didn't go hunting for things. There were probably 2-4 of them, they got in, grabbed what was open and obvious and good for cash, and ran. They were in your house maybe a whole minute.

This kind of burglar is all about getting in and getting out fast. To prevent him from doing so again, you don't need to make your house into a fortress, you just need to give him second thoughts. Figure out how he got in the first time, make that harder, add another level of difficulty (extra lock, burglar bars on the window), then add another deterrent.

He will not come back when you are home. He is all about profit with little effort. Now go have a good cry.

<hugs> Zirc. Freaking DoA fricktard control freaks. That's ALL it is. Someone has no power (or much of anything for anyone to be interested about) in her real life so she exerts it on a freaking DOLL BOARD. OK? This is a board....devoted to dolls. Maybe---MAYBE---2 people IN THE WORLD care about how a post is made on DoA and they are both DoA mods who are just like her. Everyone else is going....jeez, another person in the same boat, poor zirc.

{{{Zirc}}} DOA sucks in so many ways. I only check my PDmini buds, sewing and my local group on there and our local group had to create a livejournal for important stuff that they deemed off topic. I almost feel sorry for how pitiful the mods lives must be for them to be so ugly and petty.

Thank you Zirc, and Dark Angel. VV thank you for the advice. You are right. I want to throw out some of the stuff they touched and Lysol the rest of it.

We had good news this morning. My husband had backed up his Nanowrimo novel and all his writing notes on his hard drive along with all his lesson plans and school work.

What was taken was annoying, but not important. We are doing well and feeling blessed.

We have been put on hold in our quest to get our own house through a low income/disabled program because we don't meet income requirements??? I have other ideas what requirements we don't meet, having a dozen kids aside. Once we figure out what my mom's official annual income will be we can get started again. Funny, that didn't stop lenders before and we already pay enough in rent to pay for a mortgage, and that house would have a floor.

And I'm hoping to have some good news but so far it's a sad, all the Dollzones that came in to JS and I haven't been Emailed about mine yet :( Hopefully it's because Emory is swamped and hasn't got to mine yet. ~crosses fingers~

My brother gave me a big scare many years ago when I still lived with my parents. Mom and dad where out of the country and Jon had already moved out a few years earlier. There was no reason for anyone to be there but me. Well Jon had had been drinking with some buddies in the neighborhood and was too drunk to drive. He decided to spend the night at our house. Smart move for a drunk man. He thought he would be nice and not wake me up. Not a smart move. I called 911 on him.

For several years after that I would have this nightmare that someone had broken into the house in the middle of the night and I would try to escape. It became really bad when I move into my own place and I might have the dream three or four times in one night. It got to the point that I would get pissed off that I was having this dream again while I was still in the dream.

I think someone was looking to rob me a couple of weeks ago. I had to scrap frost off my car. When I got to the passenger side I found that someone had wiped away just enough to look into the front and back of my car. Then I read in the paper that someone else on the street was robbed the previous weekend.

I guess I lucked out. My car has an alarm, I keep it locked, and I don't leave stuff in it. It would seem that I'm smarter than the detective who had a county car stolen out of his driveway because he left it unlocked with the keys in the ignition. The car was recovered but I'm sure his pride hasn't.

A little yappy dog can be a great burglar alarm, the noise spoils anyone trying to surprise you. Our five pounder tells us when anyone is at the gate or in the trash.

Got off the phone with my mom - my step-dad is not doing well. He suffers a series of strokes from about 8 years ago as well as Parkinson's and has quickly gone down hill this past year. She said he has been sleeping for 2 days now. He'll open his eyes periodically, but he won't move or wake up. He's had in-home hospice care for several months; now he is under 24 hour nurse care. She's waiting to see what the doctor wants to do and worries that he'll be admitted to the hospital.

I'm worried that he's giving up.

This is the hardest part. I'm so sorry. Take each day, one at a time and remember to do the things that make you feel happy. *hugs*
