I'm really excited right now. My husband managed to squeeze us into a last minute Ghost Tour in our area this Saturday and everywhere they are taking us is known haunted places. I've always wanted to do this! XD The last tour we were just on ended up being more of a history tour with some grim stories sprinkled in.

Bringing the camera and my iPod to try and record something. I have some silly ghost hunting apps on there that can "detect" spirits, we'll see how well that actually works. lol Not bringing any dolls though, I don't want to chance anything. Though Mizuki's pouting right now. I'm not willing to bring anything home with us. It'd be amusing (if it's a nice spirit) for the first day and a half, and then I'll start getting really creeped out.

Yes the dolls were kind of creepy (how many vacant glass eyes can you handle staring at you every second of your day before you get paranoid?) and screamed unhealthy obsession, but they were just dolls. It didn't bode well for me when the 'psychic' walked in and said 'ugh, dolls are creepy'. Yup, you're definitely going to give an unbiased opinion. Can dolls be possessed? Yes. I had one, it was terrifying. But I don't think the problem was the collection of dollies, it seemed more likely that the daughter's obsession with violent death was causing the issues and her and the mom both needed counseling.

On a different note, I had a blast playing Spot That Doll every time they did a doll shot. :)

Wow, if you don't mind me asking, what was like for you to have a possessed doll?

It was in high school. I found this adorable little clown doll in an old part of the dorm and decided to keep it. That night I woke up and I felt like I was dying. It scared the shit out of me, I thought I was sick and needed to go to the ER. But when I started to move to call the dean I saw something glowing on my bookcase and when I finally got to the light turned on it was the damned doll. I was more than happy to break curfew to get rid of the thing.

But on the reverse side (where this topic started) I have tons of stuffed animals and dolls, many of which were right next to that clown on the shelf, and none of them have ever been possessed or haunted, even when we lived between a historic graveyard and a military/city graveyard. I don't really buy into dolls being vessels for souls thing, not unless you want them to be.

Those aren't dolls. Have you ever seen a retired clown?

Thank you, I think fruit punch just came out my nose. -_-

I have an acquaintance that is terrified of clowns. Even the mention of them sends her into fits. Another friend is afraid of this movie or something that has to do with dolls, and there's a line that goes "Mary Shaw had no children; only dolls." and that freaks her out. Acquaintance recites this line, thinking herself funny, friend goes "Oh yeah? There's a clown in your closet." >_> Acquaintance makes me go check her closet, but the cross-bar for the hangers is only supported by a loop of wire. I knocked it loose by accident, which scared me, making me jump, which made her scream, and throw her cigarette and the Maltese dog she was holding into the air, and run out the house. She made my friend drive her around town for four hours until she was calm enough to go back into her house.

The funny part? I was originally planning on "freaking out" that there was indeed a clown in her closet, but decided against it, because it would be mean. I would hate someone pranking me by utilizing my phobia of hypodermic needles, after all....

But that has nothing to do with hauntings, it was just funny. And clowns always make me think of that event, even mentioned in passing.

I don't really have a clown phobia... but I admit, those clowns that are actually meant to be scary (like IT)
....FUGGIN CREEPY.

Having been a medium as a teenager, I've had all the experience I want with the other-world in person. I don't care to go looking for it in other people's homes. One good attempt at being possessed was all it took to break me of any desire to continue down that path.

I don't believe in ghosts. I do, however, believe very strongly in demons. Asking for one is just . . . asking for it.

Yikes, that does sound very spooky. That stuff definitely gives me the wiggins.

I have been in places that had an overwhelming unwelcome feel. Have you ever just walked into a place and known instantly that you weren't wanted there? I swear the temperature drops and it feels like dark minds are watching. There was a house for sale, my family went to see it, and my mother, sister, and myself were independently freaked out. The whole house felt chill and icky, but the pool room was just completely off the charts. We related how we felt and realized we all said the same things after we walked out the door. My dad didn't notice anything at all. He wanted to go see the barn and we three were like, "NOOO thank you!"

All this talk about ghosts and our own experiences has me on YouTube every night watching Ghost Hunters. lol
I did go on a Ghost Tour last Thursday and ended up finding out that my "Spirit Guide" was with me keeping me safe. So, that was pretty awesome. This coming Thursday night I'll be going with my mom to a dinner where the mediums will give you messages from the dead.

I'm with you, Trethowan.

That said, people on eBay actually sell "haunted dolls." I always wonder who in the world would buy one. You do not want to bring that stuff into your house.
