A piece of advice to anyone out there contemplating applying for higher education and possibly even graduate level education.

If the school requires you to provide multiple letters of recommendation, do NOT write your own letter, give identical copies of it to three different people to sign, and then submit those to the school under the assumption that they will be too stupid to notice how stupid you are.

We aren't. We do notice and it is a fast way to not only get denied, but get yourself reported to applicant management authorities for a misconduct.

I'm shocked. If you can't get three people to say good things about you in a letter of recommendation, how do you expect to pass your classes? Human stupidity never ceases to amaze.

Well, I've been in this business for 7 years and it's the first time I've seen it this blatant, that's for sure. But yes, I got one today....can't be any more specific for confidentiality and such reasons, but it was a seriously stupid thing for the person to have done. I think some people really believe that no one ever reads those things...boy, do I have news for them! hahahahaha

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... my husband gets letters from prospective students. Half the time they don't spell his name right. Drives him nuts. Attention to detail. Kinda need that.

Or they'll try to flatter him by saying they're super interested in his research and then talk about stuff that is NOT his research. Do the homework! haha

LOL...that is rich. About a year ago I was writing letters to principals to get myself a job. One I just wasn't paying attention to and I spelled Principal as principle. She pointed it out and I was just mortified!!! And no, I did not get the job....

Absolutely. You should send out 4-5 copies minimum to show how serious you are.
