Legal paper - ever so slightly taller and wider than A4...
US paper system doesn't match that of the rest of the world. So whilst the EU and most of asia has A4, A3 etc. they have legal, letter etc.
A4 etc can scale into itself for easy shrinking of images, printing twice as much on 1 page is easy due to the system of sizing - US sizes no such luck - the ratios are all odd
(boggles the mind to think the whole printing stuff at half scale that I use so often to save paper is near impossible with the US system :/ unless it's all changed since I read up on this?)
