Read the sad new yesterday that Jess S. Jackson had died.... No, not the political activist from Chicago but the founder of Kendall-Jackson Winery. The Missus and I decided to splurge and buy a bottle of Vintner's Reserve Pinot Noir on the way home from work last night, to drink a toast to one of the giants of the American wine business.

Yes, paying $20 for .750 ml is considered a "splurge" here at Chez Mlatch but it was so good compared to the cheap stuff we normally buy.

Cal's body was scheduled to arrive yesterday. At seven in the morning, UPS listed it as being out for delivery. My family and I were leaving for my grandparents' house, but we delayed leaving hoping that he'd come before we left. Finally, at 2:40, we had to leave; it's a four hour drive, and we wanted to get there before supper. Mom told me that usually if they didn't come in the morning, it would be five pm before it arrived. I was disappointed, but at least they'll deliver it Monday.

Then that night, I got on just to check everything. It turns out that the UPS truck had turned up at 2:56. If we'd just waited fifteen minutes... I feel kind of like I deserted him.

So sad that the doll meet-up this past weekend will be my last for a while - I've started working weekends so that my daughter can be involved in a couple of extra activities during the week. It's a small price to pay, but I will miss the meetings.

I think it sucks that I joined just a bit too late to be part of the anniversary contest! Darn! Please have another contest soon! ^^

I wish I had that for a suck.

Aaaaaaand there's a forseen disaster snagging up the house. There is a code violation for a grading issue on the land. If the seller doesn't address it out loan inspector doesn't pass it and we can't get that house. But it's been empty for a year, lost half it's value after being way over values, and we were meeting the price they wanted.

So we have to keep searching. We do have a fall back house we've made an offer on, no separate room for the dolls. On the good side we haven't given our notice here so we can stay put. :/

Stressing? Me? I think I'll start coding the HTML5 version of my site to calm my nerves.

*Just let this suck be a blessing in disguise as our relator might not be sure about these people. I just don't know any more.

I've owned three houses including the one we live in now. I made a comment over on Jspot, DK. I'm not being snarky, I am just trying to make sure that before you dive into home ownership you've considered all the OTHER cost considerations that come up, which can literally bankrupt you in your first year.

Read it, ready for it.

So, what's your favorite performance of The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again? I think I'll be going through them all.

My grandfather who's been sick with leukemia just fell and my grandmother can't help him get up.. so my mom and her husband are rushing over to help. I'm here at my mom's watching the animals and the siblings while they go. Could really use some good thoughts right now.
