My mom was against my doll hobby the most out of the entire family. Every day, she'd tell me what a waste of money they were. Amusingly, she'd occasionally ask me to bring out my dolls for her to sew for, but the cycle pretty much continued. This went on for about two years into the hobby.

Then, I bought her a 60cm Obitsu Gretel for Mother's Day because she was always complaining about how I only bought boys, how hard it was to slip their enormous hands through the sleeves, and how annoying it was to sew sleeves for 1/6th scale dolls.

After she got the doll, she completely stopped telling me the dolls were a waste of money. Instead, she tells me that I "have enough already" and that I should stop buying more. I'm so evil.

kurosu.chan, it sounds like Mom needs a "special project" to break the ice between her and Alex. Something like you're working on a special outfit for him but you're having trouble with it so could she lend a hand? Perhaps if the two of you worked together on something for Alex, she could get to know him and your relationship to him better, as well as form her own.

Oh, and 1/6andtinylover, your mom's right. You need to put away the ponies. It is a well documented fact that MLP's are a gateway animal on the road to your own full scale zoo. Just ask Dollykim.

My mom loosened up after I did the reborn baby and told her I didn't care what she made for it or how she dressed it because it has a soft body and doesn't look like a boy or girl. The only catch is it only fits premie sized clothes. I went with an air dry kit and ended up using the paint I use on my other dolls.

First I was searched at the airport because apparently holographic magic cards look like bombs on the scanner. And now the $6 hair product I bought tonight while I was at the salon with my mom, I was charged $60 for it cos the dumb clerk typed it in wrong I was too tired to notice until looking at my bank statement online after I got back to my parents house. And on top of that my 22 year old sister bashed my dolls hard, first she was flailing them around like they were god damn Barbies, and then when I told her to be a little careful at least, and told her how much they cost, she said I was a dumb shit for not spending the money on clothing or something... useful. Gosh aren't vacations fun?

Did I mention that I realized that my flight left at 6:45am, which after doing the math meant that I had to be up at 3:30am to get to the airport on time. So As I write this, I've been up for 20 hours straight.

Fuck you vacation.
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Is a crazy cat lady. I can not sew because I prefer to sew by hand in front of the tv and it seems every time I get going good I suddenly have a lapful of three cats who all either think whatever I'm working on is the best toy ever or are trying their damnedest to snog with me. So I end up tangled in a mass of thread purrs fabric and tails. O_O

The eyes I ordered for the new kiddo are also wayyyyy too small but she did end up claiming a pair that are ginormous. I'm hoping I can talk her into a size or two smaller.
