Is there a general style or time period to look at to start clothes and stuff from? I always get overwhelmed.

I was looking on ebay on a whim and found a doll store seller selling goodreau msd sized vinyl dolls for 35-50$ fullsets.

I found the same seller, and snagged a boyfriend for my Delilah Noir. I am going to make them a steampunk couple.

If it's the seller I think it is, I've been following a couple of her Patsy auctions. If only she'd come down a bit more on their prices too! LOL.

Most of the steampunk I have seen is late Victorian (bustle period) to Edwardian. A very few people have gone to early Victorian (think Dickens) but those huge hoop skirts are unwieldy and awkward.

Most of the steampunk I have seen is late Victorian (bustle period) to Edwardian. A very few people have gone to early Victorian (think Dickens) but those huge hoop skirts are unwieldy and awkward.

I have seen some of the hoop skirts cut in half or three fourths - with the front of the dress open - and then left bare or partially draped in fabric (think kinky).

The actual hoops had to play catch-up to fashion. After Empire when skirts got big again it was done with lots of petticoats. The cage crinoline was seen as a bit of freedom, and the reason behind boots and pantalettes because heaven forbid someone see a bit of leg skin.
